I have read a lot of peoples hypothesized time lines, and pretty much all of them either don't explain it at all or give explanations that have a lot of plot holes that don't make much sense. I have found one that goes into great detail, and I think this one is a storyline that I have not found one hole that I could argument. Check it out. I will warn you that it is a LONG read.

The time line doesn't really matter that much. It's all re-incarnation and rebirth as this hero. I've noticed some little things in Ocarina of Time that suggests a chronological flow of events. Like little references to past adventures and stuff. I'm interested to know exactly what the deal is though. It's probably one of those things where they'll eventually have to add to a future game just to keep their own understanding of the chronology. It's getting pretty TimeCopesque.

what we do know is that Skyward Sword comes first, because the Master Sword is born in that game, so it precedes Ocarina, wwhich is second.
