I have been thinking about this for a while now and I just had to ask this question.  Shigeru Miyamoto designed a lot of our favorite games like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and more.  What would happen if he had died?  Would they still go on with the series or will they pull the plug?  This is a very good question in gaming history cause his games has been more popular than anyone in the world.

An extra question I will say that is kind of related to this.  What would the world be like if Shigeru Miyamoto never made any of these games?  Feel free to answer both the questions.

Of course, At least the Gamer world... He's one of the best Nintendo's men... It would hit hard in the Videogamer's hearth.

About the Second question: I guess that Sega would rule the Video games world... And Nintendo without Donkey Kong would be dead right now. Oh, and with Sega having Alex Kidd as the Company's pet.

Well, I know that they'll be continuing all of his wonderful game series even after his death. Though I don't know if they'll still be the same.

If Miyamoto never made these games, I don't think we'd have a lot of things we have today. Mostly, Nintendo wouldn't have come into being, or at least not as prominently as it is today. If that were true, then Sony and Microsoft may not have the developments in gaming that they do today, since Nintendo made many of the pioneers in gaming.

I doubt much would change honestly....

While there may not be new games with his touch in them.... someone else would come along to fill his spot in some way and take Nintendo and video games in a new direction.

Gamers around the world would mourn though...

If he died, then gamers around the world would mourn, and Nintendo would put out some commemorative game in his honor that would most likely be the biggest selling game they've had in years.

If he had never made them... I think that Sega and Nintendo's roles would be reversed and they would be the big company putting out consoles while Nintendo just put out a few games for other systems, mostly the Xbox. Also, there would be a no 1 Up shirts, and that would be sad.

No.

It would not change much of anything in the world. In fact not many people would notice his complete absence.

But in the gamer world, that's a different story. I feel like telling you why he is important but if you do not know then that makes my point invalid.

In the realm of the gamer he would be sorely missed. I would be very sad and I would hope that all respects goes to the franchises he has made.

It wouldn't change a whole ton honestly.

It'd be upsetting yes, but he's contributed all he will, his death will be mourned an his life celebrated. He is a great man, who has nothing left to prove.

I would not doubt it if Nintendo suffered a bit. I bet they'd still make games, but I don't think they'd be quite the same. =/ I'd be very sad, myself.

I'm pretty sure that it would just keep going.

I do not think it would case too much of a drastic change.

UserMike : Video game or franchise discussion? Seems like this does not really belong in here because all that Miyamoto really does is work in the video game field of the world. Though it is your call.

billythekidmonster :  Well, I am pretty much talking about like what would the world be like.  It is about life changing and possibility of something that will change the future.  You can move it if you want, I am not going to argue about it.

Originally I left it alone because it was designed to talk about how the world itself would be different, though with the responses mostly tending towards video games, I am thinking maybe a move might be good. I would like to get my co-mod's opinion on this though.

For 1st Question: It would so effect everyone in Japan and in the Gaming industry. It would be impossible to play a nintendo gane if he was dead!
For 2nd Question: We would all be bored out of our lives because all games besides those suck (except for Call Of Duty)

His death would greatly impact the gaming world, but it wouldn't change anything.

Now, if he never existed, that would be completely different. Video games would have died in 1983, and computers would not be as advanced as they are today.

If he hadn't made those games? I think video games would have honestly fallen apart. Cheap games made to simply make money by companies like Atari almost completely killed off the video game industry all together. When Nintendo came with games like Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, it proved that video games could actually be fun and were worth investing time and money into.

Now, if he died... I think they would still make games of those franchises. I just think that it would be a huge blow to the gamer community.

There is no doubt they would continue making the popular game series. One example would have to be Star Fox. Even after the the decline of the series, from Adventures through Command, it is still wanted by many fans --Star Fox 3D appears to have done well. Nothing is going to be the same when Myamoto dies, but the last thing they will do is end any of the game series.

Knowing how often Super Mario Brothers is credited with being the game that saved the industry (see the_casualty's post above), there is little doubt that that video games would not have any significance in any way today; not to mention we would not be discussing these questions here on this site.
