I used to be a cat lover when I was a kid. I can understand that some people just click with cats better than dogs. It just isn't the case with me. Cats just aren't genetically wired to be pack animals (excluding the exception of felines like lions). Most cats are wired to be loners, and that is what you often get with a house cat. Sure, they often like to lay with you or beg for attention, but it is usually on their terms. I more often than not see someones pet can off laying by itself or staying in a dark secluded place. Dogs are pack animals, and want to be part of a group. Not all individual dogs are like that, but as a species, that is how they are typically wired. That is why they are a true companion animal. They thrive on interaction and that is how they develop most of their behaviors. If I want a pet, I want something that will want to interact with me and I know it loves to learn just because it makes me happy. I just don't find many cats that will dedicate their lives to making you happy because they love you. With them, they are typically involved in their own world, and will involve you when they see fit. 

I prefer dogst because they return your affection

I am definitely a Cat person. I have 4 of them. I like cats because they are just plain easier than Dogs. I honestly don't mind dogs....as long as they are small dogs that don't bark much XD.

Doggies! I love them because they are cuddly and will be by your side at all times. They are one of my favorite animals and beat out cats if you ask me.

I think it's pretty obvious what I'm for. =P Cats are and will always be my favorite animal. Just because most cats don't demand your attention EVERY second of EVERYday, does NOT mean that they can't be affectionate and loyal animals. I've met just as many friendly cats as dogs. I actually like that cats are more independent. I can pet them and give them affection without (most of) them trying to keep my attention the ENTIRE day. (I do have other things to do. >.> )

Anyway, I DO like dogs, too. Don't get me wrong. I've met loads of friendly dogs who I've enjoyed playing with and petting. That said, I definitely like big dogs more. The yapping of little dogs hurts my ears. >.<

He's old though and doesn't yip except really early in the morning for about 10 seconds.

Anyway, I prefer cats too. So much that I've promised Tabi we can have some kitties when we are living together =P

I would rather have a dog as a pet because they're more enjoyable to be around and aren't all independent like cats.

I definitely prefer cats, I have a dog and a cat, and my dog is the most terrible dog in the whole world. She chews on herself constantly, making these disgusting noises, and she also barks nonstop, and she smells so gross(for some unknown reason) that you can smell her from all the way across my house. My cat, on the other hand has never smelled, and has always bean silent.
I know that all dogs aren't like that, and some dogs are fine, but I'll always say that cats are way better.

I like both of them, but I'm more into dogs :3

I'm an animal lover of all kinds (except birds, they petrify me.) Both are loyal and easily trained animals....as a dog groomer, I'm going to vote Dogs although I enjoy the company of both cats and dogs.

I like them both, however, if I had another choice, I'd pick a fish. I guess I'll pick cat since I live with one.

Well I'm allergic to both so I've never really been around dogs or cats for a long time but I'll go with cats I guess.

I prefer dogs, they're usually active, while some cats are just lazy.

cat's there more lovey then dog's in my opinion

I've always loved dogs more.  They are more loyal, more lovable, and you can cuddle with them without claws digging into your face. I love cats too, but I love dogs more.

I love cats cause they are more independent and not so reliant on you

I think that I like Dogs better, because they are more loyal, but cats are cute.

I truthfully would not have either as pets though for right now
