I always choose Chikorita. I haven't really chosen anything else. Meganium can be a very excellent wall pokemon, which in my final party, is very helpful for weakening the attacks of those who wish to harm my Blissey, my second wall. I have no need for another battle Pokemon.

I have beaten the E4 with all 3 at least once. Though my choice now always goes between Totodile and Cyndaquil. Depending on my play style for that time, I choose differently. Though more often I do happen to choose Cyndaquil.
