Do you consider pets as a part of the family or as just a pet?

JUNGLExMAN : i consider my dog family,if i had say,a budgie or a goldfish i dont think id consider them family.

My family doesn't care about my budgie as much as I do, so I don't think she is "accepted" by the rest of my immediate family members as family. In any case she is one of my best friends, I love her.

Yeah surely, because I spend so much time with him, so many years so he becomes part of my family.

When my dog was alive, we always considered her as family. For me that is, not so sure about my dad though, but I always considered it as a yes.

I absolutely consider my dogs as family. Heck, my chocolate lab sleeps in my bed with me whenever my beagle stretches out and takes the entire dog bed. Besides that, they are very affectionate and I love them

I consider my pets as family. Or, at least, they're treating like family around the house. They're getting pretty fat.

I consider my pets as family. My cat is really nice, my dog is affectionate for sure (gotta love beagles), and the rat I babysit is like that estranged cousin that you see sometimes, and you can't really tell if the visits are beneficial or detrimental.

My two Vizslas, Doak and Morgan, are indeed part of my family. I love them a ton, and I sometimes address them with my own last name.

Of course, if you just got it, sometimes you have to give it a few days.

When it comes to dog, cats, or birds I count them as family. But when it comes to fishes I don't. If anything happens to my dog or cat like death or injured my family would treat it nicely and cry if anything happens to it, but if a fish dies It's like hmm... Toilet time! lol ^.^"

Lights : Wow that is like almost all families.  Fish are never given the same rights as other pets.  That should be another topic~

Well my cats and dogs are family we register them with the same last name as us.  I think my step mom doesn't see cats as family, just a bother to her lol.  I rage at my parents if they don't get the bug medicine in time, like now...  I also raged at my dad for not taking care of our older dog, we almost lost him a few months ago.  I try to make sure all of our pets get taken good care of.

I know my cat Misty thinks I'm her mamma.  I pick off the bugs on her, brush her, and feed her tuna.  She's the only cat that allows me to groom her lol~  All the other cats just want to snuggle~  I am not a dog person to be honest, but I try to give them fair treatment.  They are living beings with brains and have feelings.  I give them treats, brush them and play with them all the time, unless I'm not feeling good.

Yes I do. It would seem very unreasonable to count a living thing in your household that you love NOT a family member... It's quite ridiculous to see them as property or anything but family.
