There was a law passed in California that banned the sale of M rated video games to minors. The article says that the Supreme Court reascended that law.

Hearing something like this annoys me, considering the fact that it's usually the parent/guardians responsibility for choosing the video games. Although there have been more violent video games released throughout the time, which is probably something to note.

But what do I know... I just play these types of video games for self-entertainment.

I remember reading an article about the case. I'm glad about the Supreme Court's decision. The people who brought this case up (again) have such a weak argument that it's laughable.
It's ridiculous that something like this can be enforced simply if parents were to be more aware of what their children are playing, and yet people like the ones who brought up the case want even more enforcement even though there's already a system in place that informs which games are more appropriate for older ages. Soon they'll want to censor video games for their violence and other things that they find unacceptable and the entire video game medium will be ruined.

We already have that in Canada, I can't walk up to the cashier with a copy of Call of Duty MW3 and walk away with it, I need my mother present, or else they can't legally sell me it, unless I go to the collectible game shop.

It's not gonna stop the kids, they'll just ask their parents for the games, or to pick them up for them.

They just can't get them directly.

That is definitely an interesting article...I think a few states have a law on that minors can't buy M rated Games, but I guess not the entire country.

I glad that they did that YAY VIDEO GAMES FOR US!! Btw, if they going ban the violent game, they going have to ban the whole set of game because all of our games *98%* are violent game.

Glad to know that the Supreme Court has a respect for the peoples rights to play violent video games. Parents are held accountable for what their children play anyways and just think about some of the people who are parents and love playing violent video games themselves. Take time to research what games are suitable for your kids rather than banning games for everyone. I mean what kid is capable of doing whatever an actual video game character does anyways? Also in console system you can lock out what type of games they can play by restricting it through the parental control options.

pfff. maybe you should have an ID showing you're of age to play it. well, that wouldn't help if a parent bought it for a kid...

You look up into the sky, and see a curious form flying down towards you. It is a Hydreigon, and it lands in front of you and says...

pfff. maybe you should have an ID showing you're of age to play it. well, that wouldn't help if a parent bought it for a kid...

The Hydreigon, finished speaking, spreads its six black wings and flies off to who knows where...

feed them!

I wish parents would start taking responsibility. They should know what their kids are playing. I feel like a lot of parents are trying to make the world raise and teach their own children for them now-a-days.

I didn't think it would hold. It's not like they had a very good argument in the first place. Vincent pretty much just said what I was thinking - If a parent doesn't like the game, either deal with it, or do it yourself and prevent the kid from playing it. I despise people who think they know what's best for other peoples' children. Opinions are called opinions because they should be kept to yourself, and no one should try to assert their opinion over someone else's life, especially if that opinion is garbage to begin with.

If you don't want your kid to play the game, don't give it to them in the first place. Instead of taking up a ban on video games think of what your kid already has, instead of crushing everybody's opinions and choices.

Here lol in California (which is where the article talks about ) I have always had to have a parent or guardian with me to get the M rated games, not anymore since I'm 17. But this does remind me of something:

I'm glad they decided to do that, but like everyone alex said. It's not going to stop the kids for getting a hold of the game. Meaning going through their parents to get the game. It's not the Supreme Court's job to ban M rated games to minors. It's the parents job to watch what their kids are playing. I don't have to worry about that since I'm 23 Yay me! Lol, but yeah, I remember hearing this from my parents.

I had a feeling the law would never get passed just for how stupid it is. If you're concerned about the games, don't buy them. It's not like you're being told to buy a game that isn't suitable for whoever you're buying it for. If people would think before acting, we'd have quite a disturbing amount of no funny stories, but at least that'd mean we'd hear less about some parent's kid being part of news stories where parents blame media rather than themselves or the kids' mind.

I actually can go up to the counter of my local gaming store with an M rated game ready to be bought and buy it even without my mom being around. I did that once. I'm 16, by the way.

Well, it doesn't matter now, if you live in Cali, but before that could have ended up with a severe fine if not a job loss for the person that sold you the game.

Bobbynibbles : by violent what are we talking?the article didnt really specify.if it was to stop say, a 7 year old buying an 18 rated game then id support that, but if it means no games with guns, fighting etc then there would be hardly any games to play, that would suck.
