I normally know what seems like something I'd like, but I need help getting some lesser known games. I know of stuff like Drakengard and Legend of Kay, but I'd like to know of some other good obscure titles. Be sure to say what genre each game is in, by the way, and give your opinion on it so I can have extra help with figuring out if the game is for me.

Here's the consoles I own that I use(I have a Wii, but hate motion controls...):

PS3
PS2
Nintendo DS Lite(my DS Phat is losing the will to be playable)
Gameboy Color
Original Game Boy Advanced
Original Game Boy
A laptop that I would prefer to use to play DOS games on
PS1(I use my PS3 and PS2 to play PS1 games)

You can also recommend any games on Vizzed if they are good ones, as well.

Remember, the games have to be of the lesser known category. No Socoms. No Mario games. I want the stuff that people didn't notice. Here's the types of games I tend to enjoy if you wish to know what would please me the most:

First Person perspective RPGs
FPS's that are sci-fi based
JRPGs
WRPGs
Arcade style space ship shooters
Click and Point adventure games
Survival Horror
Action-based horror
Arcade style shooting games in general
Third Person Shooters
Old school RPGs from the days of DOS and the like
Platformers with 2D graphics
3D platformers
Games in the style of the Dynasty Warriors games
Open World games
Beat 'Em Ups
Action games

I'll play any type of game except sports games, with the exception of skateboarding games. Thanks in advanced.

Well, I've said this a dozen times on this site already, but an amazing obscure series in the West is the Touhou series. It's a series of 2D top-down shooters made by a Japanese guy named ZUN. The shooters fall under the category of danmaku, which means there are hundreds, sometimes thousands, of bullets on screen at the same time; and you have to dodge them all.

The Touhou series stands out from other shooters because of the characters, stories, and music. All of these are developed extremely well, as opposed to other shooters which barely touch the surface of a character and focus more on gameplay. Every character has their own theme songs; one that plays during the stage and one that plays during the boss.

What really pushes the game forward is the fanbase of the game. Type in "touhou" for the youtube search and you'll find tons of videos based simply off of the characters and random memes around the internet. Again, this series is much more popular in Japan than it is here in the West, but that doesn't stop it from being a fantastic game.

There's just so many amazing aspects to this series that I can't possible list them all. You can find out a lot more about it on the official wiki.

Someone70 : I know of this, but the genre is far too fast paced for me to enjoy it. I can play normal shooters of this type, but when you give me a hundred bullets flying on screen... That's an anxiety attack waiting to happen. It sounds fun, but just not a type of game I'd consider good for my mental well being. Thanks, though.

Ever try Summon Night on the GBA?

I actually just heard of it the other day (I'm so lame) and I liked it. Maybe you might?

Well, there's always the Shin Megami Tensei series of games. There are 5 of them on the PS2. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Persona 3/Persona 3 FES (go for FES), Persona 4, Digital Devil Saga part 1, and Digital Devil Saga part 2. Be warned, though, the games are HARD. You need to learn enemy weaknesses and abuse them. Stat up/down spells are absolutely necessary or you -will- die.
If you like challenges, you'll love the games. If you're a mythology nut, you will go crazy with the games, as all of the enemies/personae are different things from mythologies (save for Greek/roman ones). Some examples of enemies you'll fight in Nocturne/DDS1/2 are: Thor, Metatron, Lilith, Nyx, Amaratsu, and so many many more.

Well, I've been playing Monster Party on the NES on Vizzed. It's just another NES platformer, but what makes it unique is its f'ed up storyline and its wacky bosses. You might not like it, but I would at least suggest taking a look at it.

There's Eternal Ring (PS2); first person RPG... it's kinda repetitive with the controls, but once you get used to it it can be fun; try it out if you haven't.

KlawedFlaw : Give them a shot. You may want to have a FAQ open, though, for monster weaknesses and such (until you have them down, anyway). Skills that analyze (generally just analyze) are -very- useful. An item that does it (just one) is even better, as you have a limited amount of skills that you can have set up at any one time. I'd say more, but it gets into spoiler territory if I do, really...wait! They're creepy. Like mess with your head worse than Silent Hill creepy. If you're the type of person who can't do horror movies, I actually recommend staying -away- despite how good the games are.

I guess I can give a couple small spoilers here. SMT: Nocturne deals with recreating the world after it's destroyed (and you watch it happen!). P3 involves high school life with a mysterious tower, I really can't say more there. P4 is also high school life, with murders! DDS1 and 2...are in a league of their own. If you want to know more about the games, just shoot me a PM and I'll answer any questions you may have (no I'm not addicted to them )

... I know you said not to mention Wii games, but I know of one game that's lesser known that would warrant a rent, at least. It's called Monster Hunter Tri. It's a love-it or hate-it game though, so you really should rent it first. As far as motion controls go, they are very minimal in MH 3. You could probably beat the whole game without paying much attention at all to the intricacies of the control scheme. I know I was more than half way through the game before I even realized that the character used different types of attacks depending on how the remote was positioned.

Also, I don't know if this is well known or not, because I was just getting into the Playstation market when it came out, but have you played Rogue Galaxy? It's a VERY good game.

Well I would say that you should play Quest 64. That is a fun game and really not many people know about it, that or Ogre Battle 64. Or the one on the SNES your choice.

billythekidmonster : Damn you, I was about to suggest that! ;-;

Well, I have other games to suggest, so nyeeeerrr.

You could try any of the Ys game series. They range from Dos all the way up to PS2 at least. They're generally a roleplaying game, but some of the more recent ones, like Ys VI, The Ark of Nephistam, have some 3D platformer elements in them as well. Also the music is awesome, no matter what game series you play.

Valkyrie Profile: Only 80,000 copies of this game were originally made (that were translated), until the PSP version came out, but there wasn't too many copies of that made as well if I remember correctly. Valkyrie Profile also has 2D platformer elements, and is a turn based RPG, but it is action rather action based, because your team attacks at once and you have to string the attacks correctly. The battles start off slow but by the time you get to chapter 3 they are really fast paced and filled with adrenaline.

I Have no Mouth, and I Must Scream: Point and Click based off of a book, it's an old DOS game. One I enjoyed nonetheless.
