I never noticed until now. Maybe he should become a Water type Pokemon master, like Misty to avoid drowning.

Well, Ash doesn't only nearly die in episodes with water. He practically dies in nearly every other episodes and all the movies. It's a wonder why he isn't completely traumatized by all of these events.

I also think ash nearly drowns in most of the movies when there is water involved.

Ash drowning whenever water is involved is almost traditional to the show/movies now, if it isn't already.

1. Ash should really learn to swim, or catch a good water type.

2. Ash can't die because he's in a coma,

Lol I would not say that he really wants to drown but I do not think that he can swim... Ultimately he is just scared of water I guess. Overall I did not notice that till now.

I doubt if he WANTS to drown, but he really should learn how to swim. >.> And I thought MY track record for almost drowning was bad...

Hey wait, I thought he does swim----from the 1st episode through the 9th movie and probably beyond, I've seen him swimming when he's in water----when not being prevented from swimming, that is. It's when he's diving deep and/or being pulled under by something is he in danger of drowning----just like we would be in his situation. (Who's glad that the anime universe has its own rules and not being governed by gaming clichés like in the PMD special episodes?)

And yes, I heard the joke that one of the animators must hate Ash cause he's always trying to drown him.

And he does catch water-types; remember Squirtle? And Totodile? . . . Yeah they got left behind at Prof. Oak's lab when Ash went to Hoenn and Sinnoh. Then he had Lapras for the Orange Islands arc. And now in Unova, he has Oshawott (even though I reckon Ash would more likely swim with Oshawott rather than tied to him)
Edit: Oh, I forgot Buizel (in Sinnoh)! What gives? I'm pretty far into the DP generation series to know that. (*facepalms*)

For all I care, he can drown. Red is way more epic than Ash.

He is drowning as a way to stop all the crazy things the movies/legends put him through. He wants it to end lmao

it's simple.. ash wants to drown because he loves any female companion but the writers are to lazy and stupid to have anything "romantic" in a kids show -.-

Ash doesn't only almost die by water but in the movie Mewtwo Strikes back he is turned into stone and almost dies.
