I agree it's a sensible way of letting you know that that is a hardware problem, issue, or error. It sucks if you get it, but hey it can get replaced. Make sure to back up your game saves on some USB memory device.

I agree with the above post. It's handy to let you know something is up, but it's damned frightening to get yourself.

I remember when Matilda got the red ring of death. I panicked. I popped the hard drive off and blew on it. That was all the video game console maintenance I'd ever been taught. Blow on NES cartridges if they don't work the first time. So I puffed on that hard drive and put it back in and, sure enough, she worked fine. Haven't had a problem since.

Thank god for NES cartridge maintenance tips from my father.

Well I used to hate the Red Ring O' Death, but I have a new Xbox 360 S. I was the first person to buy one in my State! Anyway I went through 2 consoles while my brother went through 3. I used to use this thing called a Towel Trick, where you would wrap the console in a couple of towels to warm it up until the console got Overheated. Then wait for it to cool down and turn it on. I found out that the Towel Trick works on and off, but I think it is a luck thing.

I don't have an XBOX, but I've heard about this. I think it's something with the motherboard (inside the xbox). I think it's actually normal for a system to have this, overheating (which is basically what RROD is) happens a lot.
