I believe that it's billions of years old too. I know that some Christians believe that it's only a few thousand years old, but science has proved that it is much older then that.

At the moment, and probably forever, we can only give a wide ranged estimate upon the actual lifespan it has so far. We only have the years listed from what knowledge the human race has gained over the centuries, but left out key time marks of when knowledge wasn't gained that much....

i don't know how the world was created and i don't know how its gonna end but people say god created it how did god create it i'm not saying that i dont believe in god im just saying. now where do people come from i know but who was the first person on earth people said it was a girl from people in the sky she fell and landed on a turtle witch formed the world it may be where grottle came from . but those are storys i heard i dont know if its true or not.

The planet Earth I think has been around for about 3 billion years or so, but it took a while for life to begin developing on it, unless you count slime as life. The universe has been around for about 13 billion years though, I think.

I believe it's as old as science will prove it to believe. The whole "earth is only a few thousand years old because God made it then" thing is a bit ridiculous, and promotes ignorance and disassociates science and religion, when I believe both can peacefully exist hand in hand. What is oil, then, if not the remains of organics exposed to millions of years of pressure? Did God decide to just put it there for our use, magically, with no science or order behind it, and decided to create all the laws of physics, our organs and the living systems of every creature alive, just for kicks? God is a very careful, intelligent, and calculating being, so I believe he would create the earth with a little more method to it than that. As for other religions beliefs on earths age, I'm unsure, but as for my own I believe it to number in the billions of years.

Billions of years old, I am not sure what the current estimate is, but I know Earth is ancient beyond our comprehension. And jmc, "slime" does count as life... single celled organisms are the building blocks of higher life forms.

I believe tghe earth is as old as the day it was formed. I'm a christian and a scientist and from what I can determine from both is that I don't know exactly what either is saying. Science tries to be more specific but it is all based on theory so.... I believe I can just say well who really cares and move on with it.
