Has a doctor or dentist ever misdiagnosed you?

With me, yes, a doctor thought that a dent in my tooth was a cavity, and she drilled right through it and chipped that tooth.

Retro layouts bring back the good times...

No, thank god. I actually don't go to the dentist/doctors all that often, only for check ups and physicals, pretty much.

I twice actually they thought I had diabetes but I knew they were wrong they had outdated machines that were from 1980-2000 of course they both were a wake up call . Since it also said I had type one on the first and type 2 on the second.

uh huh... almost everytime I went...

I am going again today and hopefully they get it right.

See, I have depression, biochemical depression. The doctors have never been able to detect it, and I find it laughable, because they note the minor things about me even, but they never find my depression. So they slap me on the back and give me a lollipop and send me on my way, when I feel the same as before, I know they screwed up.

Indeed, it has happened to me. When I was really young my parents told me that the doctor thought that I had some social problem or mental disability or something. However, I'm really just more of an introvert/shy among strangers kind of person. Another time I went to the pet doctor (not for me lol) and he was gonna do all of these tests and stuff on the dog to see why she was acting strange. He thought she ate some of my Grandma's pills or something so he was probably gonna charge us for blood tests and whatever but I noticed little black dots moving around the dog's rear. It was fleas. We just got flea medicine. Hooray for proving doctors wrong!

Yes I have been. I went in for a check up one day. The doctor doing his job came back with the results saying I had diabetes. A few days later the doctor called me saying that I didn't have diabetes that he accidentally grabbed the wrong result from a different patient. How could he missed that? I even bought all the equipment to cheek my blood sugar and all that stuff for nothing. Eh, at least I don't have to worry about it though.

Once, my doctor said I had ADHD, but he diagnosed me wrong. I was only like 3, though. I'm not so sure if this is true.

Yep, my doctor thought my small mole on my arm was cancerous, and made my family cry for weeks.

Then he called us "Oh sorry, I was mistaken. Your daughter isn't going to die."

Worst doctor ever xD

I honestly don't know. I was taking a particular medication. At the same time, the pool that my swim team used was being a treated with a more powerful form of chlorine.

One day, a rash appeared. An allergist immediately said that the medication was to blame. The doctor who prescribed the medication in the first place said that the more powerful chlorine was to blame. When I switched medications the rash went away, but the season ended around the same time so there's no way to tell what caused it.

Annoyingly enough, yes. Two years ago or so, I got SEVERE pains where the appendicitis is, or just above it to be exact. I felt like I was dying. I went from extremely got to freezing cold rapidly, was constantly dizzy and wanted to scream in pain. Man did it hurt! Despite a billion tests, the doctor said "eh, I'll just guess that it is a virus", saying how it was too high to be the appendicitis. A year later, I had to go through emergency surgery to get it removed. It was basically facing the wrong way and that's why the doctor didn't diagnose me right the first time. x.x ">https://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/cuteeditor_files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);

Funny, the appendicitis getting very close to bursting didn't even come close to how painful the previous thing in it was. I think it must have been the point where it got infected or something.

I'm not even sure if this counts as a misdiagnosis, but ...

I went in last year to a free clinic thinking that I had a UTI. The tests came back negative, even though I had literally EVERY symptom for it and even the doctors were convinced even before doing a urine analysis. So they gave me the medication for a UTI, anyway, and sent in for more results. They called me back week later, telling me that the SECOND test also came back negative even though the medicine worked. To this day, I have no idea what I had. =| As long as it went away, I was happy.

I dont know if it is misdiagnosis or not,
but a couple years ago a dentist told me I had a cyst surrounding a tooth so they operated on it,
and took the tooth out and he said that it was a baby tooth
and the adult tooth would grow in normally, and it still hasn't grown in yet years later.
All my other adult teeth have been in for years, i think even before my tooth got operated on.
