I was involved in a fight a few hours ago and in the middle of it something very tragic happened. I don't wanna say what happened but I wonder why do people argue on the internet. People argue on the Internet because they're too scared to do it in person, they're using a lot of wires and two screens as a shield.

Anonymity is pretty much the 1 reason why it happens so often. If someone knew who you were or was face to face with you I bet you/they wouldn't say 1/100th of what is said on the internet.
PLUS, if you look at the average internet user.... most of them can't actually back up what they say on the internet.... but being able to say it without any real consequence is probably fairly liberating. Yeah, Not being able to see them face-to-face plays a key factor in internet wars.
You feel a lot more confident and will say tons more than you would have in real life. That's why I keep away from chatting from people I can meet daily. There are so many things in typing that can be misread and misunderstood that would never happen in real life talking.

One of the reasons I MIGHT be spending more time on Vizzed is due to reasons like these, I was on another forum and I got banned just because I got "flamed" by a 16 year old with good reputation, I was his "target" and I end up rule breaking without knowing and got banned due to him, too bad I got no evidence of him flaming (he is a good actor, infact, anyone can be good actors on the internet). Some flames wards are because the person is stupid in real life, so he is most likely the same on the internet. Sad world we live in. People aren't mean. The internet i just evil enough to make them mean. Maybe it is hard to understand each other through technology, but arguments over stupid stuff pop up all the time.
You know what would be REALLY ironic? If we all started arguing over this topic.

Arguing over the internet can be a way to avoid responsibility after the argument blows over. It can sometimes be more heated than an argument in real life. Either way, avoidance of arguments is something I try to become better at every day. Avoiding getting into one releases some of your stress each time. -------------------- |

The reason why most people spawn internet fights is because 1) they're losers with nothing better to do or 2) they want to tell people stuff that they'd never have the balls to tell them in real life. Internet fights are incredibly stupid and can lead to depression, suicide, etc. And that's why I think Formspring should be deleted from the internet. |

It's because they have nothing better to do than harass people. When Vizzed users are bored they post on the Board or play games in the RGR. When those other people are bored, they post offensive comments to draw attention to themselves and start a fight.

Part of the reason i love Vizzed so much is that flame wars just never happen here? Someone ticks me off? I go beat the crap out of Mario. Someone says something I disapprove of? It's Ren and Stimpy time! I post of a good number of other forums, and man, it's like the front lines out there sometimes.

well you aren't always going to agree with people and you never really know what others are going through, so they might need something to relieve their frustrations out on or maybe the wrong things were said at the wrong time... the best way i figured out how to defuse the situation is to control yourself. i've found out that soft answers turn away wrath so i always try to show people my cheery side and i quickly end conversations before they get out of hand that way nothing is said nor is any wrong action taken |

I think it comes out of boredome and frustration from the lack of proper relationships and an internal state of satisfaction. Usually when they argue with someone else they are arguing with themselves internally
