The old NES games (Castevania, Simon's Quest, Dracula's Quest) were pretty good, but suffers from one fatal flaw: you can only whip straight forward. That's where Super Castlevania IV comes in. You can whip in EIGHT DIRECTIONS. It was disappointing in Castlevania: Dracula X that you're stuck with one direction again, which was strange, considering it was supposed to be a successor to Super Castlevania IV.
