Being raised in a religious home doesn't mean squat unless you pick up anything out of it, or listen for that matter.

Well it be tough but I want to say Yes.

Also think about it, if a crazy murdering man came up to you with a gun most likely he is going to shoot you whether you say Yes or No.

so lie and die or tell the truth as a testament and die. That is how I see it.

Oh yes. I am fully committed to my beliefs, and I would definitely die for them. No matter what situation comes up, I will most likely NOT change my beliefs or submit to altering them.

To be honest, no, I wouldn't die to support them. Mainly because I don't really have any.

I think that I would be able to contribute to my beliefs more being alive than dead. That being said, if someone put a gun to me and said "denounce your beliefs" I would probably say sure, be on my way, and continue practicing them. Forgive me if I didn't understand the question.

This is a hard thing to say, but yes, I will die to support my beliefs. It's easy to say it, but when it actually happens, it's not as easy to follow.

As Christians, we know that eternal life is more precious than life on earth. So it does not matter if a Christians was martyred for their faith and took a stand to not renounce it.

"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?" (Matthew 16:28)

And also as Christians, we don't want to deny Christ, no matter if we are ashamed of Christ or because we are afraid to deny Christ. It is warned that he will deny us if we deny Him.

"Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven" (Matt. 10:32-33)

"if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;" (2 Timothy 2:12)

If we deny Christ just to save our own life or reputation, then that person does not really believe in God's promise of eternal life nor believes that God would take care of you and your future as a Christian. Yet living in the United States, it's easy for people to say, yeah, I will be willing to die for my faith. I really think that tribulation would actually indicate who are the true believers, because false believers would not die for something they don't truly believe in.

A missionary was telling the story of Christian missionaries who were killed because they said "Jesus is Lord" and gun point.

The most memorable one I have heard is the one by Paul Washer who described about a boy who he knew personally: "A little boy, Andrew Myman, the Muslims shot him five times through the stomach and left him on a sidewalk simply because he cried out, “I am so afraid but I cannot deny Jesus Christ. Please don’t kill me, but I will not deny Him.” And he died in a pool of blood.

To be a missionary or something, yes. But I would risk my life for my country and loved ones as well.

as scary as it would be I think when it came down to the moment of truth that many Christians would simply say "Yeah, I'm Christian and there isn't anything you can do to change that." I don't know if I could ever respect someone who saved their own life who claimed to be Christian. Like play4fun said.... if you would rather save your own life then you don't really believe in the promise of eternal life.

I'm not so sure about this really. I really want to say yes, but I don't know if that will be true until it happens to me. I just hope that if I do have a choice between life or god, I will put my faith over me. I wish it would happen already, so I could be tested. If I choose my life, I'd probably end up going suicide with all the guilt. Again, I just hope I don't get in that situation.

This, for me is a pretty hard question. I'd probably have to say no, and there are some reasons for that. There are my loved ones who would probably get really sad and go through lots of stress. I wouldn't want that to happen to them. And there is a lot I can contribute to in terms of my religion if I am alive. I'm probably sounding very selfish right now; I just hope I never have to get into a situation as such, is all I can say.

I say that I would definitely die for my belief as a Christian. I have not been in the situation so I have no way to back it up. I would be terribly afraid if I was at gun point, but hell is the worst kind of torture and pain beyond imagination. I shudder much more at that rather than being shot. Not to demean being shot because that is VERY scary, but whatever pain I could possibly experience here is much less than what hell would be. Hell is unimaginable torture and agony for all of eternity... Well, ya know, until judgement day and the lake of fire, and here on earth, the pain, although it could be horribly intense, could only last for a little while. I love God and respect him as I do Jesus. Jesus has given us a chance as non-jews to re-unite with our father in heaven and if you recall, he went to hell for 3 days after his death to pay for OUR sins. We definitely beyond owe it to him to do more than our best to use his sacrifice to meet him and our father in heaven. I wouldn't be able to live with myself (figuratively and literally) if I refused Jesus' sacrifice. As for lying about denying my faith, that is also a sin and if your able to do that, then chances are that you would do it again and again and again to get out of trouble. If you do something like that, not only are you committing a grave sin by denying God as your savior, but your not really being properly faithful if you're like that. You can't just turn faith on and off like a faucet, it's either one way or the other. No in between. And if they pulled the trigger regardless, guess where you would go after straight out denying your faith in God? No matter how you try to justify it, denial of faith for any reason whatsoever is cowardly and God does not accept the cowardly. When I say this I don't mean people who are afraid of spiders or scary stuff, I mean people who lack the will to stand up for their faith when put to the test. Those are the true cowards. Sorry for focusing only on Christianity as my basis for belief but as a dedicated christian, I could not see myself doing such things for any other religion. But on an ending note, death takes only a moment, but eternity is forever...

A lot of people says yes, but I say no. I just find it stupid because if I was willingly to lay down my life just to further progress in my beliefs. I'd rather continue to live the life as I am now. Carefree and not forced into these kinds of things, because to me It feels like a cult if you would just to die for it. I'll pass on that.

Natas : I think you misunderstood what the guy is saying. He is asking if someone oppresses you (someone who does not believe the same that you believe) and threatens you that he will kill you unless you reject your beliefs, would you be willing to die for your beliefs.

Well this is an easy decision for me its a definite NO. Theres no way I would die for my beliefs I know that sounds bad but I think god would rather see his people live than die for him needlessly. If the world depended on it yeah I'd hit the trigger or if it was to save other peoples lives. I'm curious as to why people take religion oh so seriously I was brought up a catholic but church used to bore me and I ended up not caring much. I do history and back in the day (1800's) religion was taken extremely seriously by everyone and even lead to the 40 years war (that's when most of Europe was divided over Catholicism and Protestantism, and Germany's states were completely divided leading to civil unrest )
anyway if you actually think about it would be much better to deny your beliefs for that specific event to live and do a lot more good in the world later than to die needlessly and end up being forgotten. Look at all the suicide bombers that have terrorised the western worlds, their names aren't even known by many and it only caused unrest. In conclusion lol no I would definitely not die for my faith and tbh I'm not even sure I'm a catholic anymore anyways :|

anyway if you actually think about it would be much better to deny your beliefs for that specific event to live and do a lot more good in the world later than to die needlessly and end up being forgotten. Look at all the suicide bombers that have terrorised the western worlds, their names aren't even known by many and it only caused unrest. In conclusion lol no I would definitely not die for my faith and tbh I'm not even sure I'm a catholic anymore anyways :|

I want to say yes and be a good little Christian like everyone else, but the truth of the matter is that I would likely not. Everyone here can say that you would, but when the moment strikes, would you? Maybe I'm just pessimistic or a coward here, but I'm not faithful enough to die for my beliefs. I would like to, but it's not something I wouldn't do reluctantly.

Given the fact I am not religious, IF I was, the fact I could die for my beliefs? No. That's the truth.. No.

I refuse to die just because someone else thinks the belief is wrong. I would just live my life by my decision.
