Wednesday's Nintendo Direct featured the addition of Gameboy games to the base Nintendo Online package, with GBA games requiring the Expansion Pack (priced at $50 per year). You can find the entire launch lineup for each system and other titles slated to release at a later date here:

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2023/02/game-boy-and-gba-coming-to-switch-online-today

So far, I've been enjoying Tetris and plan to check out Metroid II and Link's Awakening DX since I've never played either game. I don't have the Expansion Pack at the moment, so I can't really comment on the GBA's lineup, but I do like the inclusion of The Minish Cap and Superstar Saga.

As far as the confirmed upcoming releases go, I'm looking forward to Oracle of Seasons and Ages, Golden Sun, and Fire Emblem. It seems like Binding Blade (FE6) will only be included in Japan, but it would be nice to see it released internationally at some point, hopefully not in the form of a $30-$40 remake.

And while Pokémon R/B/Y haven't been confirmed yet, I think the inclusion of the Trading Card Game for GB and Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2 for N64 later this year make R/B/Y a pretty safe bet.

Personally, I'd like to see Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones come to GBA online. Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald would also be welcome additions, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they:

A.) Never get added

or

B.) Are sold as standalone physical releases or bundles.

I feel like the latter is more likely, but we'll see.

What titles are you excited about? What GB/GBA games would you like to see added to Nintendo Switch Online at some point?

If it's any time to finally bring back the Summon Night Swordcraft Story games into the mainstream, this would be that time. I know they won't do it considering how Niche they are but I absolutely think they would be perfect. Hell they even brought out Kuru Kuru Kururin which was Pal exclusive.

Anyways bias aside, the games I'd like to see for GB/GBC and GBA

Mario Tennis (GBC and Power Tour)
DK (94 and MvsDK
Pokemon Games (RBY/GSC/RSE)
Kirby (DL2, Nightmare, and Amazing Mirror.)
Kirby Tilt and Tumble (Would be cool to see work with Joycons or Pro Controller.)
4 Swords/LTTP (Cause 4 Swords Multiplayer is hella fun)
Wario Land 2/3/4 (4 especially)
Bomberman Max (1 and 2)
The Hamtaro Games from GB and GBA (Cause Childhood and also they're really good.)
Metroid (Fusion and Zero Mission)
Drill Dozer

Honestly, I don't really care about this at all. There's certainly no way I'm paying extra for access to a GBA emulator when I can do the same thing, with a much larger game library, for free on my PC. Even though GB games are included in the membership that I already have, I doubt I will ever play them on the Switch. I much prefer playing games on their original hardware, but if I'm going to use an emulator, I might as well use the one I already have downloaded and ready to go. I don't really have any reason to play Game Boy games on the Switch when I can play them on my computer.

I brought a modded Switch OLED lol ill put any gba games I want as well as ds games on it. Its crazy how greedy people resellers and nintendo are charging 3-15$ for an online service that uses my own wifi, the Pokemon Company charging 5-17$ for Pokemon Home, and lastly the resellers charging 200$ for a legit physical copy of Pokemon Heartgold/soulsilver and its a shame because nintendo could literally print money if they physical copied re-released legacy titles. But idk to me the games feel better being played on the physical hardware instead of being emulated on the phone or pc/modded switch/DS but until they can offer a better option that doesn't completely rip off the gamers ill stick to emulators
