How organized are you? It's a straightforward question that can be rather complicated to answer.

To take some of the tension off what can be rather personal, I'll go first: I (and likely most of the people around me) would describe myself as a fairly messy person. For the most part, I've never lived with much of a set routine unless external circumstances temporarily forced me into it. Nor do I keep much of schedule in terms of when I do things like cleaning, studying or the like. It's not that I ignore all my responsibilities, but often I'll let my to do list pile up way longer than I'd like to before directly tackling something. Then I'll go about dealing with it in very intense bursts, only to repeat the process after. Textbook procrastination in other words.

Since entering adult life, I've started to realize that it can be a rather stressful way to live, always having something bugging me in the back of my mind instead of just balancing out my time more. I attribute it to two main causes: 1. Taking on too many things at once and 2. my upbringing; "Time management" was not a concept I had to learn when I was younger, so I've never fully confronted these topics until university and work commitments started forcing me to. It's one of the main things I'm looking to improve on this year. To be more well organized both mentally and physically.

As a first step to that, I just recently bought a pocket calendar where I've started writing down all of the things I have to do. Which, incidentally, has made me realize that I'm a lot busier than I thought. It can be a rather mind opening exercise if you're like me, so I recommend trying it.

Do you recognize yourself in my situation, if so how do you cope with it? Or conversely, are you the kind of person who's always on top of things? If so, any tips to share for how to be more organized?

To be honest I feel like there are some things that I could do better, like about a year or so ago I straightened up my top bookshelf so it looks more organized and clean, but even so my desk at work is cleaner than my room and I usually only clean it once a year and it's a bad habit I have, I really need more space in my room, but to put it one way it's kind of in the shape of a tetris piece like four squares and the little bit on top as an entrance

though granted earlier this month I did decide to clean out my dresser so I could have more room for bras and my cozy socks

sigh if only I could remind myself that cleaning up is exercise and if I do at least I'll have a workout in

Organized? *Laughs into the many bags and boxes in his room he's yet to clean up*

For real though, it's all dependent really on the day for me and how much I feel like doing something. Yesterday I went through the liberty of basically getting rid of most of the trash in the back of my room and taking all the dishes that had yet to be cleaned up, putting them into my sink, scrubbing it all down and reorganizing the Kitchen as well since I was at it. That took me a total of 3 hours and I still haven't finish.

If you had asked me the other day I would basically say I'm a unorganized mess. Really you just kind of have to get me at a good day and I'll do it no problem lmao.

Although I will say, even then I was still pretty organized and I hate mis-managing my items that I absolutely need and will go through the trouble of digging through stuff if I cannot find it that easily just to put it in a spot I can get ahold of it better and won't forget. I'm that stubborn.

I am a very organized person. Part of that is due to my Autism and leadership abilities. I have everything in a place. I also have things in containers neatly stacked. I have my weather stuff and data organized in my bookcase. In another book case I have my paper and pencils that I use to draw my weather graphs and maps.

When something is not organized I will be honest it drives me a little crazy. When it comes to cleaning I like to keep my room/office neat. I like to keep the floors polished and everything dusted.

I guess you could say that I'm really organized. I have this book where I keep all of my notes for things that I want to look back onto, like stuff for anime and games, reviews, and other things. But I write all my random notes on random paper and then take those notes and transfer them into the book as concisely and efficiently as I can. I also have a master document in Word that has around 400,000 words of notes and documents.

Other than that, I also keep all my books, games, and movies wekk kept and in their own areas.

I'll admit I'm not the most organized person ever, but over the last few years I have gotten much better about putting things where they're supposed to go.

When I was in highschool/early college I would really just throw things everywhere, and it became a nightmare when I actually had things I needed to find. I quickly decided I needed to get special things to hold important items and keep them in a place I will remember.

I still occasionally throw something to the side and forget about it (recently lost my school ID card lol), but it used to be every day.

I also have the difficulty of cats, which like to take things I've placed in the right spot and hide them. I don't think I should fault myself for that though.

I've become significantly more organized as an adult then when I was in middle school and high school. Everything has a place, and if it's not being used, everything should be in that place. I feel like I get on my girlfriend's nerves sometimes, because whenever she leaves something out I always put it back where it belongs lol.

This is hard to answer cause it's been years since I've had a room that just had my stuff in it so I'll say I think I'm decently organized. I have a folder to keep important stuff in but I definitely could use more personal space when it comes to consoles and games and such owning over 100 physical games doesn't help.

I’ve mostly been kinda cluttered when it comes to organization. I wouldn’t say dirty or messy but more so everything neatly chaotic. Laundry in a basket that I haven’t folded in a week, should really iron them out…

Paperwork from work scattered all over my desk yet I know which document is which surprisingly… don’t get me started on consoles with the wires tangled together on the tv stand . Few examples

Oddly enough I prefer it like this since I’m able to easily find what I need through this clutter but whenever I clean my bed room… that’s when I lose things.

Rest of my house is pretty clean and organized. It’s just my bedroom I prefer to have clutter, oddly enough… since guest shouldn’t be in my room to begin with?

I used to be really horrible at organizing and my place would normally be a total mess, but the last few months I've had no problem keeping everything sans a few dishes clean.

I just need to relearn the habits of time management that I was trying to improve at. Luckily I feel that may come in time shortly too.
