The site had some downtime yesterday. I'm not sure how long it had been down or when it went down but it was down when I woke up and so I sent in a request to HostGator to restart the server for me. They think it was due to MySQL and if that was in fact the case, that may have been because of the surge in bot traffic we've had recently...I mean another surge, a surge on top of the already current surge.


This is at least still translating to a boost in real traffic also. On Saturday, we almost had 10,000 visitors which is an amount this site hasn't had in a long time. And Sunday we probably would have been well over 10,000 if the site hadn't gone down.

Anyways, for now, I'm going to just monitor the traffic and site speed and only spend time optimizing the site if it happens again or if the site gets really slow for a long period of time. Also let me know if the site does get really slow.

I wasn't surprised to see the site down. I saw it around the time it goes down for maintenance, so I simply thought you were doing something to it. Apparently it wasn't the case, my fault for not having checked more often.

It's quite nice to see the boost in traffic, even if it can cause problems like these. I'll keep an eye out for when the site gets slow or is down other than for maintenance, as I tend to be online at times when most people isn't here and thus I can catch situations that go unnoticed by many.

I'll be honest I never even saw the site go down and I typically refresh the site pretty often so not sure how I missed that but I'm glad the site's traffic is going up idk how much that impacts the site's revenue with ads but I assume it can only be a positive thing.
