As some know, I dedicate myself to being fit. I run a lot, but it's not the only exercise I do.

I am also a practitioner in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and Krav Maga.

Safe to say, I'm kind of a bad-ass.

What about you?

I was never really taught to do any and most of the people I know who have did it only really temporary. I am really happy for the people who do though!

I haven't really had the opportunity to take any up, but I've always wanted to. Among them would be Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Judo, and Aikido.

I'm not strong or particularly limber, but not being anywhere close to overweight and probably being underweight, I assume that means I'm a blank canvas. I would assume that, while it's good to go in with a little prior fitness, it's something you can pick up along the way.

Yes, I do in fact!

Like yourself I'm dedicating a lot of time to fitness. Right now I'm practicing Ju Jutsu-Kai and Taido. Outside of that I spend a lot of time doing weightlifting and calisthenics.

The two are quite different in their emphasis.

Ju Jutsu-Kai has a lot of traditional elements. It originates from the samurais who used it on the battlefield. The variant I practice is very focused on learning practical techniques that can be used in self defense situations without breaking Swedish law,

Taido is less practical and more focused on form. Doing a lot of kicks and dodges that you're less likely to use in an outside fight due to their complexity. You even have some more acrobatic segments like practicing handstands and flips. I find it very good for becoming more fluid in my movements and improving footwork and mobility. It's also way easier to impress people with.

I did back in the early days of my youth. High school to be exact. Was a dark and sunny day. Birds singing and not a cloud in the sky. There was a class on Judo in town (don’t know if they’re still open today) and well thought I would take it as a way to impress ladies and brag that I can fight. Lasted not even a month because it was just a ploy and not something I would genuinely take up... but yeah the more you know

m0ssb3rg935 :

You really should take up Muay Thai and Krav Maga in specific if your aim is to learn useful self defense. Muay Thai keeps you flexible, and teaches you good form for any form of striking you would be best suited for, as well as honing your defensive reflexes.

Krav, on the other hand, is sheer brutalization of your opponent, really great if you want to actually harm somebody who attacks you. And being underweight isn't a big disadvantage.

Yes, I do, or to say the least, I used to do, ever since the quarantine came hehe. I've been learning kickboxing for almost 2 years. I must say that the place where I go really shaped and fixed my body thankfully. I'm grateful to it. However, I've been considering to leave it since lately I wasn't exactly happy anymore. Idk, I kind of lost interest I guess? My main objective was just to learn self defense, and I guess I acquired the basics. I'd like to focus more on going to the gym, and working on the body parts that are weaker than others.
