No phone will last forever, not even the Nokias (trust me I know)

How long does your phone last before your battery starts playing tricks on your and your phone starts dying faster?

When I got my V two oh, everything was awesome. But fast forward to now, and once my battery gets down to 40 percent, the phone turns off automatically. Plus once I plug it in, it takes like 10 minutes to turn it back on.

Mine lasted about a year and a half before any noticeable changes. Now it's close to two years.

What about you?

My previous phone, an iPhone that I had for like almost 4 years never had any battery issues. Charge port got dirty a couple times but aside from that it was as good as new. I think the trick is to never let it overcharge. I would never charge my phone overnight so I was always in control of the amount of power it was getting.

Could be wrong though maybe I just got lucky.

Something I'll give to Apple is that I've been using an iPhone 4 that we found on the side of the road for a few years now and I've had zero issues with it besides being so obsolete I can't get apps for it. Seriously. It's been thrown out of a car window, layed in the gravel, brought home, sat doing nothing for a while, dropped many times, jailbroken, reverse the jailbreak by updating, thrown, stepped on, got wet... and it just keeps going.

It's near indestructible.

That's just weird lol. All day life I've been hearing about how iPhones were the least durable of all the phones and how they break so easily.

I had an iphone 5S a few years ago and I dropped it less than a foot and half of the screen broke off.

I dropped my two oh hard enough for the battery to end up a couple feet away multiple times and no physical damage.

My phone is close to 5-6 years, and while battery is indeed giving signs of dying down, I have no real issues with it since it still charges quite quickly. It has shut down a few times when at 20% when using it, but not while it's just resting, and it turns on almost immediately after plugging it.

I have never had any issue with my phones, despite the fact I tend to keep them with me for a few years. I admit I don't use them much, I don't really play games with them and out of Whatsapp I barely use any other app, so I guess that might be the secret for their issues-free longevity.

I used to keep my current phone (a first-generation HTC One Mini) on a case to protect it from falling, but I ultimately discarded it. Kind of a risky move, but the few falls it has had so far weren't that heavy, just a few bruises on the back with none on the screen.

I've never had any issues with the batteries of any of my phones. None of the batteries ever "turned to mush," although I have had phones with screens that would suddenly stop working after a few years for no apparent reasons.

I got my phone used three years ago, and it's faithfully served me, but it's having a few battery issues now. I can get around them, but it's just the phone itself showing its age and its heavy usage, same way the screen has a significant amount of burn-in. The battery issues aren't quite as annoying as some have had in this thread, though - it mostly boils down to the phone turning itself off when its power gets around 20-30 percent and needing to be plugged in to realize that it actually has that much power remaining. I'm thinking about getting the battery replaced, but I'm still thinking about it. Either way, it's still useful and oddly enough, the only time the battery doesn't die too quickly is when the device is in heavy use.

dark mode : It was a fairly expensive phone and one of its selling points was a very high-capacity battery. Outside of that, I have no idea what's different between my phone issues and your phone issues.

I have 2 phones. An Android and a crappy little Safelink that my mom gave me about 5 years ago so she could get ahold of me (I don't pay for cellular service every month like most people, I don't see it as a necessity.) My Android Phone's battery, depending on what apps I use and what I'm doing (looking up YouTube videos for games on my Xbox One or just browsing the internet) can last about 2 days. My Safelink phone's battery lasts about a week without being dialed even once. Longest it's lasted is about 10 days, I think. It's an older phone with no internet connection and very few functions, one of those old 12 button phones where the texting is horrible.

The longest time my phone has battery life is when it is on 1% for some reason, the rest of the battery lasts a few hours at most even with the brightness on the lowest it can be and low battery mode on.

Not counting my current phone, although it's starting to have signs of wear with the battery (had it for a year). But my last phone (before I change phones), it got to a point that I have to always have my phone plugged into a wall (basically back to a landline basically), because if I take it off the charger, the phone will only last 30 minutes before it dies (from 100% to 0%), and I have no apps running or anything, but I had that phone for 2 years prior.

With that phone I had before, it was working fine for like over a year, and it starts having wear and tear and then basically almost unusable 2 years after purchase, and that is when I had to buy a new phone, which means that more in likely by this time next year, I probably will more in likely buy a new phone again.

So, on average, a phone lasts around 1-2 years, it's it's really what you do on it, if you only use it for phone calls (no apps or internet) it might last maybe 4-5 years, but if you use it extremely heavy, or use programs that has viruses, it can weaken down your phone to where it only last 6 months.

The_IB122 : You went and bought a new phone instead of having the battery replaced? That's what I did with this phone last January and I'll probably have to replace the battery again in 4-7 months, but by then it will have been more than 3 years with the same phone, just different batteries.

zanderlex : Well, my last phone wasn't just the battery, it was also having issues running programs and everything, so I had to get a new phone regardless, so it's really not the batter.

My brother stated that on average, a phone usually last like around 2-3 years, and show signs of wear and tear about 9-15 months after you bought your phone, it mostly depends on how frequent and how much data you use out of it.

I know I have seen videos of people still having their Nokia phones that they bought far back as 1998 and still working in great condition, just like the phone came out of the box fresh.

My phone often "runs out" of juice around 4 PM each day. Thankfully, I have a portable charge battery that keeps it alive so I can drive home, but I'm definitely due for a phone upgrade. Doesn't hold a charge near as well as it used to.

For myself my old phone I used for like 5 years and from what I remembered it always lasted a really long time. As for the current day phone I have it really depends on what I'm using it for like if I play a game that thing will be dying in about 60 mins.

My last phone, it went a year and a half and drained quickly. My current phone still runs pretty nice. Even when listening to music at work, it only goes down to 80%

My last phone survives for three years until the battery went completely dead. Like it’s so bad the battery is swollen and can like blow up at anytime... I do have pics if anyone wants to see the mess of my phone (just message me on my profile and if you have discord be easier)

It can’t even hold a charge anymore and I don’t know how it didn’t explode on me yet

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
