So I love Playstation, the PS4 and the Vita are so much better than XBOX and regular better than Nintendo stuff. But there are things that Playstation fails at where they should have taken a page from Nintendo.

Storage Space: Look at the PS Vita and then look at the 3DS and the Switch. When I first got my 3DS, all I had to do was was take the SD card out of my camera and put it in the system and boom, I had so much more space. Apparently the same thing is true for the Switch.

But then look at the PS Vita. You have to spend a TON of money to buy a memory stick that’s specifically made for the Vita. Then look at the PS4. You want to upgrade from 500GB to 1TB? You have to spend like $100 for an internal hard drive and then figure out how to take apart the console and then replace the hard drive and put the console back together.

Online: Until recently, playing nintendo games online was FREE. It was free for years. Now that you have to pay, it’s still super cheap, $20 for a year. You want to play your PS4 online? You have to pay $60 for a year and it was like this for years.

These comparisons between Nintendo and any other gaming company are worthless, and let me explain why.

Nintendo has always been a symbol of simplicity. Their consoles have always been easy and simple, without any strange forms or designs, one of the factors of their success. That's why the competitors have always tried to provide a superior gaming experience, since it's the only field in which they have a chance of winning. That superior capability pushes their limits, which of course comes with drawbacks from time to time, and it's also the reason why Microsoft and Sony have released their upgrades instead of brand new consoles: the associated costs of production.

There's no more to it. Nintendo has been a staple in the videogame world for decades, so any newcomer must exploit their weakness (the gaming experience) or they won't have even a slim share of the market. A better gaming experience is costly in many ways, which then turns into several complications for the players.

Sony is competing with Microsoft while Nintendo is on a different league. Their views on gaming have always been different, and they're not changing them anytime soon. Each tries to keep their share of the market, which means Nintendo must stay simple as it's always been and Sony and Microsoft must keep developing powerful games and consoles to make players fall in love with such graphics and gaming experience.

Unless you're looking for a good-to-excellent gaming experience, a certain range of games or simply pursue badass graphics or technology like VR, then your place to be is Nintendo. I wouldn't have a PS4 if the games I have for it were on Switch, if I must be honest, but some are Sony-exclusives and others simply don't make it to Nintendo for whatever reason.

I know this post looks a bit harsh, but it's just the (hurtful) truth. For a shorter reply, just think on what equipment you need to play a $20 VR game which uses two PS Move controllers instead of the Dualshock, that alone explains how accessible each company makes gaming for their players.

Sony, Apple, and other companies focus on brand recognition and love. They want you to love their products, so they make them well-designed. But...you have to miss out on some things unless you are devoted more wholly to their brands. It's a way of getting you to build your life around these products, if you want certain features.

Some companies, of course, come with workarounds. For Sony's SD-replacing "stick", you can get a stick that has no memory...but it has a slot to insert an SD card inside, bypassing having to buy extra memory. I am not sure it's made by Sony, but we've tested it and it worked. I don't know if they're still made, but if so, that could save people a LOT of money.

I believe there are probably workarounds for Apple's new products, but I haven't explored that much yet. I still use an iPhone 6

zanderlex : you missed a golden opportunity to call out Sony on their terrible handling of the Playstation Classic. With the sheer amount of high quality games for that system, there's no excuse for how lackluster their game selection for their supposed answer to Nintendo's NES mini and SNES mini.

From what I've heard, it's not selling well at all. Sony...

The way I see it, Nintendo could learn a thing or two from Sony. They released a very, very underwhelming online service that has a ton of issues with it. All they had to do was just copy the same kind of thing Sony and Microsoft do for their online services, but they are either just plain ignoring it or are just stuck in the past. Yes, it is cheaper, but still underwhelming nonetheless. They focus all of their voice chat features onto a smartphone app? Are you serious? Just a small rant I had to get out there, I hope one day Nintendo realizes that you don't need to ignore the future just for the sake of being "different" or "unique".
