It's happening. After 20 something years, I'm on the verge of starting the process to get a permit so I'll be able to drive some day.

There's a big difference between green and blue looking the same, red and green looking the same or everything looking the same. You would probably be allowed to drive with the first degree of colorblindness but not the latter two. Actually maybe you could even get one eventually with the second condition (though you'd need to obviously prove that you're able to differentiate red lights and green lights based on which one is lighting up and not by their color).

Not saying you would get your license as quickly as a normal seeing person but I don't think all colorblind people are banned from driving.
