I'm not one to watch a whole lot of anime and I don't believe I've ever finished a series. That said, I gave Castlevania a try and enjoyed it so much that I watched seasons one and two mostly in one sitting. I'm really really looking forward to season three.

Anyone out there that can't wait? What about the series did you like or were impressed by the most?

Oh my god. Castlevania is one of the best anime I've ever watched of all time. I love the art-style, character design, voice acting, story, etc.
I was a big fan of Castlevania growing up as a kid, not that I was terribly good at the game mind you, but I loved the story and the progression was always amazing.
When I saw they were making an animated series of Castlevania I had no clue it was going to look the way it did and I was little skeptical at first. It blew me out of the water though. I love everything about it.

I mean, I got to see the intro to the first part, Dracula's backstory and motivation behind screwing humanity, and what followed. I'd say that was an accurate way to get started, dark, emotional, and incredibly bloody, exactly how Dracula likes his coffee.
I also saw a repost involving a particular moment between Alucard and Trevor. Those who watched probably already know which one, and I repeat it to myself every time he comes out of an assist trophy.

I watched the first season and loved it but haven't found the time to watch the second season. However, based on everything I've heard it is going to be worth it. Hard to watch something like Castlevania with kids around Still, definitely looking forward to seasons 2 and sounds like a third season is happening which will be great.

When I heard they were doing a Castlevania series for netflix, I was absolutely excited. I waited for it to come out, and I watched it, and it was great. I kinda forgot about it for a while, until season 2 dropped, which was amazing. I love the take on the story and characters, it just feels right to me. I can't wait to see more from the guy who did that.

I got to watch the first episode so far, I'm liking it quite a bit, I just need more time to simmer on it, especially with making Dracula a sympathetic villain. However, I hope future episodes show him more hateful and easier to have disdain for someone who can turn into the cookie monster when his head gets whipped enough!

pennylessz : At least this far, as far as I'm aware, they took a lot of creative liberty in making the anime. The first two seasons are set during the time of Castlevania III, but I couldn't say how close to the game it is. I recall reading it was pretty different, which is a good thing because adapting an NES game for anime would be awful hard otherwise.

So coming back to this, I was wondering what everyone who's seen it thought of season 3.

I thought it was really good up until episode 9 rolled around. I'll do my best not to spoil anything and I'll also refrain from being terribly descriptive. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not so much of a stiff that any kind of suggestive or mildly sexual content is a deal breaker, and it even made some sense in the context it was used. It would've been fine if they'd toned it down some. Instead, they basically made half the episode soft porn. The extent to which they illustrated was way, way beyond what was really necessary and overall took away from the narrative in my opinion. In fact, it was graphic enough that I really can't say I recommend it that strongly anymore without heavily advising discretion.
