Though, there isn't much practical difference between them, aside from scenery and specific level layouts. |
2Xtreme 02-08-15 08:33 PM |
skateboard, mountain bike, snowboard, AND roller blades, actually. |
Wario Land - Super Mario Land 3 02-02-15 08:52 AM |
The game isn't particularly hard, but if you want the best ending, it really cuts down on the time spent farming coins. |
Wario Land - Super Mario Land 3 02-02-15 08:52 AM |
Pro tip: pause the game and press select precisely 16 times. You will get a blinking box on the numbers at the bottom of the screen. Hold A and press left or right to change the number you select, and press up or down to change the value. |
Street Fighter: The Movie 10-30-14 02:16 PM |
Yo, dawg! I heard you like movies based on games, so we made a game based on a movie based on a game. |
Diddy Kong Racing 01-18-14 10:00 PM |
N64 emulation. It's a nightmare. Loved this game, though. |
Kirby's Adventure 11-06-13 09:19 PM |
This came out right at the end of the NES's life. It had all the best components and really showcased what the console could do, both graphically and otherwise. |
Mario Party 2 09-30-13 02:24 PM |
interesting. if you are a pin in "bowl over" you can jump over the shell. |
Mario Party 2 09-30-13 02:22 PM |
Wow. I thought the first mario party hated me. So many bogus bowser spaces and battle mini games where nobody else can pay up. But they sure have enough coins when they go by boo to steal my stars. |
Mario Party 2 09-30-13 01:49 PM |
bowser space roulette: 10,000 coin present! Bowser ran! Wow. They actually went through with it this time. |
Drill Dozer 09-26-13 01:28 PM |
Why doesn't this have more plays? |
Sonic 3D Blast 5 09-12-13 02:37 PM |
Sonic on the NES? MADNESS!!! |
Banjo-Tooie 09-08-13 09:54 AM |
so is there any way to cheat my way past that gate? Clipping doesn't seem possible. |
Sonic 2 XL 07-17-13 06:58 PM |
If you run into a ? box after you reach maximum fatness, but before you die, you won't be able to control left-right anymore (you can still spin dash, jump, and look) |
Aladdin 07-09-13 07:29 PM |
I remember one time as a kid, I got to Jafar and when he turned into a snake, I pelted him with apples so fast that when he died, it glitched and the fight wouldn't end. |
Chrono Trigger 08-14-11 12:27 AM |
frog has heal all spell. use element the boss is weak against for damage, others use items or masamune attack or he counters. swordstream and fire sword best attacks. |
Landstalker - The Treasures of King Nole 10-12-10 06:16 PM |
I assume this was Sega's answer to Nintendo's Zelda franchise. It's good, but not as good as Zelda. |
Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The 10-03-10 09:29 PM |
You don't win. You merely keep score. Most Atari2600 games were like this. |
Diddy Kong Racing 10-03-10 09:27 PM |
in the default vehicle. He has the highest top speed and acceleration, and still handles well. |
Diddy Kong Racing 10-03-10 09:26 PM |
This game is awesome. Also, you can unlock TT by beating his all of his times in the time trials. I forget what order the stages were (you can't unlock a new one til you beat the previous, and he doesn't go through the stages in order), but it is always |
Kirby's Adventure 10-03-10 09:14 PM |
Probably the best Kirby game to date. |
Judge Dredd 07-04-10 07:41 PM |
Resisting arrest... TWENTY years! |
Zelda II - The Adventure of Link 06-25-10 04:51 PM |
Oh, and things can still hit you when you are picking up items, so make sure enemies are dead before doing so. |
Zelda II - The Adventure of Link 06-25-10 04:47 PM |
This game is underrated, right alongside SMB2. It's not your typical Zelda game, but it's still good. |
Battletoads 06-23-10 07:03 PM |
GRR this game is hard. I've had this game for probably 17 years and I still can't beat it. I got to the level where you go down on the rope and the boss at the bottom finished me off. |
Wario Land - Super Mario Land 3 06-22-10 03:08 PM |
If you pause the game and press "select" 16 times, you can change the amount of lives, coins, hearts, and time you have. The kind of castle you get at the end of the game is dependent on how many coins you have. |
Swords and Serpents 06-10-10 05:55 PM |
simple, but fun. God help you if you don't have a map, though. |
Super Pitfall 05-23-10 10:44 AM |
Needs more lava sharks. |
Zelda Parallel Worlds 05-23-10 10:32 AM |
Is there a lantern anywhere? I think I'm supposed to go through the pitch black cave, but I cant see anything or feel my way around. |
River City Ransom 05-21-10 10:10 PM |
Finally found it. This game was fun, but for the life of me I couldn't remember the name. |
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The Movie 05-21-10 10:07 PM |
A classic beat 'em up. In retrospect, I think to myself "I used to watch this crap AND like it?", but still a good game. Used to play with a friend all the time. |
Action 52 05-21-10 10:04 PM |
What a god-awful mess. |
Nightmare On Elm Street, A 05-21-10 10:02 PM |
Needs to let you know which door you can go in and when. Directional confusion aside, it's at least playable. |
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial 05-21-10 10:00 PM |
Minus the falling in holes and lack of instructions, it's a lot better than a lot of Atari games. It was hated so much because, in part, everyone expected so much out of it. |
Yo! Noid 05-19-10 06:20 PM |
I don't care if it was a Domino's advertisement, it was still a great game. |
Aladdin 05-10-10 09:05 PM |
Never mind, it's a continue. |
Aladdin 05-10-10 09:04 PM |
I remember this game. I killed Jafar so fast one time that he just disappeared and the fight never ended. Anyone know what the wishes do? |
Mario Chronicles 05-10-10 08:47 PM |
Good game, but for the life of me, I can't play it with a keyboard. |
Mario Chronicles 05-10-10 08:40 PM |
The cards at the end of a stage give you 1-ups when you get 3. Mushrooms for 2, flowers for 3, stars for 5. Any other combination is 1. |
Zelda II - The Adventure of Link 05-09-10 07:47 PM |
You go south of the river and through the series of caves. Watch out, you can't block the rhino's axes. |
Pitfall! 04-12-10 05:21 PM |
How did he get past the water lizards?! |
Doom 04-10-10 02:28 PM |
This game practically invented first person shooters. Very famous. |
Castlevania - Harmony of Dissonance 04-04-10 04:13 PM |
Yes, the blue shadow is normal. Maybe they thought it was cool? |
Castlevania - Akatsuki no Minuet 04-04-10 03:19 PM |
It's just the Japanese version of Aria of Sorrow. |
Final Fantasy V Advance 02-02-10 08:34 PM |
Waiting for the new version. Looking forward to it. |
Final Fantasy V Advance 02-02-10 07:48 PM |
"Failed to load game. This is often caused by a download error or another game running in a different window." |
Battletoads & Double Dragon - The Ultimate Team 01-29-10 01:13 PM |
Quite possibly the hardest video game EVER! It was released in 1993, but noone have ever been recorded as to having beat it until the summer of 2009. |
Mario is Missing! 01-28-10 09:54 PM |
I agree. I only remember it vaguely, but it was strange and boring. |
Wario's Woods 12-23-09 09:27 PM |
You can also push the stack you are holding under you by pressing "up". |
Zombies Ate My Neighbors 11-12-09 04:46 PM |
Epic game. Too bad it has been removed. |
Final Fantasy Adventure 10-14-09 07:45 PM |
glitches* |
Sirius Mario Bros 5 10-14-09 07:42 PM |
Also, nice hard mode touch with the zombie goombas. |
Sirius Mario Bros 5 10-14-09 07:40 PM |
Some games are not meant to be done with a keyboard. Guess I'll need to download the controller thing. |
Final Fantasy Adventure 10-14-09 02:25 PM |
And on JavaBoy it glithces and freezes too frequently to be even remotely playable. |
Pooh and Tigger\'s Hunny Safari 10-13-09 09:51 PM |
I saw the title and my first impression was "Pooh's Trigger Happy Safari"... then I read it more carefully and lost interest. |
Lagslayer's Last Game Reviews |
Glover 01-26-14 08:52 PM |
Glover: What went wrong? Ah, Glover. I remember being really excited about getting this game. It looked like another great platformer for the N64. And I gotta say, all the pieces are there, but for some reason, it just didn't click with me. The visuals are great. Environments are varied. Bright colors abound. There's plenty of artistic detail. That being said, there tended to be more open space compared to, say, Super Mario 64. Perhaps this had to do with the controls and movement physics. Speaking of which... The controls are interesting, and I really love the concept. I like how the glove and the ball are separate entities. I like how the ball could be manipulated. I like how each of the ball's forms had different properties, and that the game took advantage of this. However, controls could be tricky and finicky. It's not always easy to make the game recognize certain commands, because they share the same buttons as other commands. Things like momentum and bouncing could easily become a tedious chore to manage instead of a fun challenge to overcome. Music and SFX were good, but not particularly memorable. The story is a pretty basic excuse plot. It's not really a factor. The game is difficult, but this stems mostly from the previously mentioned movement and physics quirks. The environments themselves aren't usually too bad, but half the time you are fighting the ball instead of using it. And that was a big turn-off. I can't see myself ever seriously getting into the game. In the end, I think it was just ahead of it's time. The game was ambitious, and deserves an "A" for effort, but it's like the hardware couldn't handle what they wanted to do with the ball. If this had come out during the next console generation, the smoother controls would have likely made this work better. |
Gun-Nac 08-05-13 04:36 PM |
Gun-Nac, an obscure gem Gun-Nac is a classic bullet hell game that somehow flew under the radar. The visuals are crisp and vibrant. Everything is so colorful and detailed. However, one must be careful not to lose oneself amidst all the screen clutter. The screen can be so full of different things that it is difficult to keep track of where you are. The game has a very distinct Japanese theme. The sound is good, but I didn't find most of the music to be particularly memorable. The shop music, however, will be stuck in your head for years to come. The game is very difficult, keeping in line with the bullet hell genre. It will not only test your skills, but also your endurance, as levels are quite long. Game play itself is simple; just move and shoot. However, many things have to be kept in mind. First and foremost, do not lose track of your ship. It may sound simple, and if it does, you are in for a rude awakening. Which power-ups you pick up are also important. Picking up the same type of weapon (indicated by the numbered tiles) will increase it's power. Picking up a new weapon type (often by accident) could mean being stuck with an inferior or awkward weapon, and possible even de-power it all together. The letter tiles indicate different types of bombs, though I find which type of bomb you use to be slightly less important. Money you pick up can be used at the end of level shop, where you can buy upgrades. Dying resets your upgrades. The plot is basically just an excuse plot, and as such, pretty inconsequential. I would most definitely recommend this game. |
