Just a few hours ago, Kentucky Fried Chicken announced that it had just released its 'Extra Crispy' fried chicken scented sunscreen.It was giving away 3,000 free bottles and it already ran out. Apparently, many people could not resist to smell like chicken or maybe it would go well with a mashed potato and gravy lip balm lol. Did anyone get to request a free bottle?
Who the heck would want to smell like chicken while sun bathing?
Can you think of any other ridiculous marketing tactics used by other companies?

This made me think of the Blondie comic where some guy at the mall tried to sell him bacon scented soap to use as a prank on others but he bought it to use on himself.

By the time you're done at the beach, you'll literally be fried chicken.

zanderlex : I am not sure if I should feel bad for him or happy since he probably loves bacon and that was the ultimate bacon fan fantasy. A bath with bacon, bacon filled pores lol.  I don't know but, I don't look forward to smelling like food specially if by any chance I ended stranded in the middle of a forest and next thing I know not only do I smell like fried chicken but, I look like fried chicken to some animal. I probably die since I run like a fried chicken and all. People are just weird. Is there a fart perfume? Is that a thing? Or a poop looking lotion? Why am I thinking about that? This would not be good for me.... See uh.... I already have a problem with vultures following me. I know that sounds insane, but I'm being totally serious here. I'm frequently stalked by vultures. I've never had one attack me, but I've never worn fried chicken scented sun screeen, either.

One word:ewwwwwwww. Why on God's green earth does anyone want to smell like fried chicken? I guarantee you if you wear that,someone will be looking for chicken when they smell that. And I would think that is especially bad around dogs and cats.

Before they released the chicken smelling sunscreen, there were probably zero threads dedicated to KFC. Maybe someone mentioned them in a favorite fast food thread or there was a name appearance in a thread about "What did you eat today?"

"I had KFC for dinner with my friends before the movie."

But now, with the release of the sunscreen, we have an entire thread dedicated to conversation. That's the whole point.

It doesn't have to be successful. They don't have to sell a single bottle. They're getting press, they're getting attention, and they're getting talked about. That is the whole objective of marketing: Find a way for people to talk about. And there's a saying that there's no bad attention in the corporate world.

I don't think it's ridiculous. I think it's (a) hilarious and (b) effective because this is the direction the conversation went.

Good for KFC.

I wasn't sure what to think if this, but really I found it really funny.....I don't eat this food anymore so its good for me. I've always wondered how KFC have been doing since I've stopped eating their food many years ago. Simply to be put I USED to be able to eat it. But, I dunno one day they added something into the chickens like a type of spice or something that would really hurt my stomach. So....I had to stop eating it. I'm good with that though since I am not pretty much missing anything. I wonder now what next they will pull off?
