This is the trailer for Sonic Mania, which was revealed around 10 minutes ago during the Sonic 25th anniversary party. It's a new game, but it has some familiar levels, and it's in 2D! I am excited for this. It looks just like a game from the Genesis, upgraded to a point where the Genesis couldn't. What are your thoughts on this?

   You are lucky you did not see it revealed on Twitch. I did. There was loud buzzing and they showed the trailer twice by accident. Then the audio cut out for a while. 
  
As for my thoughts on the actual trailer I think it looks really good. If it was on a system I owned I would buy it but the thing is they did not do anything for Nintendo. I think it would be perfect for the handheld systems. It does not look like a difficult game that requires a lot of power. It would be great for the PS Vita and 3DS. It is not for 3DS though so I doubt I will get it.

To be honest, I'm a little under whelmed by this. I mean I understand why they took the direction they did, at least to some extent, but you would think they could do better than a 2D Reboot of the original titles for such a huge anniversary / mile stone in the franchise's history. Maybe it's just me, but this feels like a title that they could have released at any time, and not some big reveal for their 25th year. It almost seems to me they played this up when they did to make sure the Reboot gets as many sales as possible, since the 3D titles, even though some if not most of the last few were awful, always sell relatively well just because of the name on the box.

But that's just my opinion. I'm quite cynical and a downer, so don't listen to me

Also this is an entirely new game, it just includes zones from the past, but upgraded, along with new zones. And I'm pretty sure they will be announcing a new 3D game at the end of the show, due to various pieces of evidence I have come across. Just wanted to tell you this so you know.

Oh my.....the trailer looked very glorious. I liked the way it came out to be like. Its definitely something eye catching for the old gamers of the gamem and the people who like the modern ones as well. So I will most likely to get the game once I've like find a way too. Since this game....its something I wouldn't really want to miss out I saw those zones they look so so much fun to play in. @.@

Reminds me of the before/after the sequel series.I think it'll be good, it looks like they at least tried to bring back the original physics this time.But, I get the nagging feeling that it'll take at least a few pages from the sequel series play-book.I just hope they don't over-do it.

Thank goodness Christian Whitehead is doing development for this game, as he was the one who made the Sonic CD port the best 2D Sonic game, as well as the mobile Sonic 1 and 2. He makes 2D Sonic feel how it should feel, and the jump dash move seems like something that would've fit in the Genesis days. The only thing I wonder is where it will fit in to the timeline. It seems like a Before/After the Sequel type game, but with no Sonic 4 Episode 3, this may be what replaces it, just not named that, kind of like how Sonic 06 was essentially a (failed) Adventure 3. I also wonder if it will tie in to Sonic 2017. Looks great, and it will feel great. Long live the Blue Blur's legacy.
