Layouts not saving correctly

For some reason when I try to save a layout that looks fine an previews fine, once saved it looks completely broken. Never once did it have this problem and I feel that updating the site so much broke layout making or at least for me it did. Is anyone else having a problem creating a layout or editing it? I'd like to make a new layout but every time it doesn't show the background and
most if not all CSS and HTML I did does not display correctly if at all.

Post layout creation has been broken for a while now and I can't really say for sure what the issue is. When the new site layout came out sometime last year (I think), David said something about disabling any potentially page-altering HTML, which wound up making a lot of old layout stop functioning. Others have said something about the editor adding slashes to the code when saved but I haven't checked that out for myself yet. I think I recall a couple people having some success making layouts, but I don't remember who.

David has said that revamping the whole post layout system is on the to do list, though.
