Training camps are starting up across the NFL, which means we're closing in on Football season! I'm starting up a Fantasy Football league. Anyone who's serious about fantasy football can join. Instead of the usual Viz prize that's been handed out in all the other fantasy leagues hosted on vizzed, I'll be handing out raffle ticket prizes. Before I reveal how much is up for grabs, I'm going to answer a few questions some of you may have.

Q - What is an Auction League?

A - An auction league is a fantasy league in which fantasy owners place "bids" on players, and the highest bidder gets the player. You bid on players until you fill your roster (once that happens you can no longer bid).

Q - How much can one bid?

A - You can bid as much as you want, as long as it doesn't exceed the maximum bid possible. However, it would be extremely unwise to make a bid of say $90 on your favorite player because then you wouldn't have enough money left to put together a great team. You only have a $200 budget to work with. (Not real money, you're not spending actual money on players)

Q - What do the rosters look like?

The roster list looks like this: QB(x1), RB(x2), WR(x3), TE(x1), W/R/T(x1), QB/W/R/T(x1), K(x1), DEF(x1) D (Defensive Player)(x1), Bench(x6), IR(x1)

Q - How many users can join?

Right now I have it set up to where 12 people can join the league. I may up that number to 16 if the demand is high enough.

Q- When will the draft start?

Right now, I have the draft time listed on Sunday August 27th at 8:00 PM ET. I may end up changing that if there are a bunch of people who can't make it then.

If you wish to join, let me know on this thread and I'll invite you to the league via PM or if you've previously been in David's Fantasy league or MM's auction league, I can send you an invite via email. This is a yahoo league so as long as you have a yahoo account, you can join.

Here are the list of prizes that'll be handed out at the end of the season. If I end up finishing in one of the top 4 spots, I'll end up keeping that prize.

1st. 10 raffle tickets

Ah, I didn't read past the date/time. I've had a lot of problems with Yahoo leagues in the past, but I'll give it another shot.

As far as David's Fantasy League, I'm not even sure if he'll be doing it this year. I'll ask him about the league, but unless he makes the thread and unless spots are open, there's nothing I can do.

gamerforlifeforever : If he doesn't do it, then we might need to set one up of our own. I was really looking forward to playing this year. 

gamerforlifeforever : I know finding people interested in auction leagues is more difficult around here. Mega did one with mixed results. You can go ahead and invite me now, but in full disclosure, I might drop out if we can't get 8-10 teams. So let me know if you are cool with that.

thing1 : In my experience with the Vizzed league, David always waits till the last min to get it set up. Been that way for years.

Jordanv78 : Yeah, I honestly much prefer auction leagues over standard, but I'm hoping that having raffle ticket awards rather than the standard Viz reward will help make people more invested. As soon as you accept the invite, we'll be at 4 teams.

gamerforlifeforever : See, I'm the total opposite, I much prefer standard drafts, but I do enjoy the occasional Auction leagues, as long as no one really screws up the draft, similar to what happened in Megas league that one year ;-)

Should be interesting doing a SUPER flex where a QB can be used. Seems a little gimmicky but I've never been in a league that did a flex like that, so it might be fun.

I'm not sure if I like the DEF and the IND defensive player, one of my leagues did that a few years back and we disliked it, but again that's just a suggestion.

gamerforlifeforever : I know this is a little confusing, but I'm glad I thought of it now instead of last minute. 
Is there any way we could change the draft date to Wednesday the 23rd? My sisters are flying in on the 24th, and we're gonna stay out of town until at least that Saturday. Sunday is going to be super busy. If it can't be changed, I can make Sunday work; that won't be a problem. But, if it's possible, and everybody is cool with it and can agree upon it, is there any way we can change it? 

thing1 : I'd have no problem with it, but I'd have to see what everyone else thinks once we start getting more participants.

gamerforlifeforever : I'd like to join, but I don't have my "own" yahoo mail account so... I'll be using someone else's. And I've never don't fantasy football that I know of so... think of me as 5 year old football fan.

Abdullahboys : I sent you an invite. I'd recommend watching a video for fantasy football beginners so that you have a better idea of how fantasy football works. If you have any questions, you can ask me via PM.

Not to be a downer, but Standard leagues are hard enough for someone whos never played fantasy before, let alone an Auction league...I smell trouble.

I never been in an auction league before, but I am very interested in playing in the league. I'm in!

Jordanv78 : I wouldn't worry about it too much. I can't speak for others, but I personally got the hang of auction leagues quicker than standard leagues back when I started playing fantasy.
