What genre of books can't you get enough of? Which one do you find yourself reading more than any others?

I find myself most often reading realistic fiction books. In that genre of literature, I relate to the characters the most. Also, sometimes I can imagine the plot of the book happening to me too. Finally, I'm intrigued in reading about made-up stories that could actually happen. Maybe not exactly the same way, but the basic concept of it could happen.

The dystopia is one of the most fascinating genres in literature. Classical literature like Brave New World, 1984, and Fahrenheit 451 outline realities so similar to our own today, and point towards a much darker path. Considering these novels were written nearly 50-80 years ago, its incredible how the authors were able to sense the direction we were heading before we even thought twice about their cautious tales.

This is an easy one. My favorite book genre is horror, both fiction and non fiction. I love everything from monsters, vampires, witches, or ghost stories. Then I do enjoy books about serial killers. It's more of what goes on in their head that makes me enjoy it. Just the thinking about playing detective. I also really love reading horror comics. I've been of fan of those since I was a kid. Also, we can't forget about Goosebumps, Cirque Du Freak, and More Scary Stories to tell in the dark. I still like reading these books.

Hey Ryan! (First reply on your posts btw) Definally adventure but mostly scary books for me. Scary books most of the time, draws you into the book more and more as the story goes on. Adventure books, because like for example, I been reading this future reality book that is packed with so much action that you just can't stop reading the book or put it down. I forgot to mention comedy books too. Doesn't really matter what genre(romance, horror, action). Of course reading too long hurts your eyes so make sure to take breaks!

Science fiction, dystopian, and romance are my favorites.

Science fiction has always just interested me, all of the weird things people can write about and can still make it seem logical is just amazing to me. Reading about things that you think could never happen, but that the author makes it seem like they easily cohld happen, is a really fascinating experience for me.

Dystopian books are just straight thrillers, it makes me think of what this current government cohld turn into (cough hungry games).

And I love romance cause who doesn't love love.

Probably romantic sci-fi. I actually liked the Twlight books. I also liked Host by the same author. Then there was Rick Rordan's Greek and Roman Percy Jackson books. And then the City of Ashes (or whatever the series was called) series.

Droog :
PokeGO+MarioFan : Even though I've only ever read one scary book, I agree that they draw you in. I can have anxiety issues but for whatever reason I decided to try reading a scary book. I was committed to it and I didn't care if my dreams at night would become even more messed up than they usually are.

Comedy books are the best. I feel like I can't live life feeling like myself without a lot of humor.

Reading too long may hurt your eyes, but being on the computer too long does it worse XD

Barathemos : Good point about romance books. I've always been single and don't really care about having a girlfriend yet, but I like reading a book about love.

I like fantasy the most, but I also like sci-fi and historical fiction. Generally I'll read anything but erotic.

I like the Adventure kinds the most. It can be any kind of genre really as long as there's some kind of exploration and adventure in it, such as The 39 Clues, The Lightning Thief, etc.

zanderlex : Yeah, I like multiple genres of books as long as the books contain a fair amount of adventure. They shouldn't be like my old stories that had mostly dialogue!

I like a lot of different genres from educational to science fiction. If I had to pick one specific genre that I frequently read nowadays, it would probably be historical fiction. It might be because I've always been a bit of a history buff and look at it as a way to learn more about the world today. I think it combines the best of two worlds. It allows me to read about some great and imaginative stories and characters while getting me to think about and actually use/expand my knowledge about time periods and events in history. I enjoy how the narratives are a bit more grounded and realistic in nature as well.

On the flip side if there's one type of book I've never liked much it would be crime thrillers. It is a huge genre here in Scandinavia and my theory as to why is because our crime rates on the whole are lower compared to most other countries meaning it fascinates people more. My mom is huge on the stuff. Me personally, from what little I've read I find them sometimes predictable and boring in their subject matter.

Zlinqx : I've enjoyed a few historical fiction books as well. Despite having a hard time remembering most of what I learned in history class, most of what I did learn intrigued me. Seeing stories take place in the time periods of those events is interesting to me especially when I have the background knowledge.

Probably detective stories, stuff like catching a murderer. I don't mind some fantasy adventures but I don't like them when they're too unrealistic.

It used to be dinosaurs though. As a kid I was obsessed with dinosaurs and I had like 20 books on them (and a ton of figurines)

Action-Adventure books about things like the military environments (Tom Clancy) or fantasy worlds get my attention. I often like to walk to the store and see what new books they have available and maybe give them a read.

Occasionally I may read Manga too but mostly it's just those books.

Furret: Are you sure that you aren't still obsessed with dinosaurs? I wasn't ever obsessed with dinosaurs when I was little. My obsessions were cars and clocks. Yes, clocks. If there was a book about different types of clocks, I would have begged my parents to buy them all. I still like looking at clocks in stores, especially the antique store I checked out with my friend Derek, but I'm not crazy about them now.
