Not sure if anyone reading this listens to any of his material (with bands and solo) or not but Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog ad Audioslave died last night/this morning of what is highly believed to be a suicide at the age of 52 years old. During his 30+ year career, he had hits such as Hunger Strike (In which members of Pearl Jam collaborated on) Black Hole Sun, Like A Stone and Heavy Is The Head which features the Zac Brown Band (and is currently their only song that is played on rock radio rather than their usual home of country radio) He also had solo albums that used a stripped down version of his Soundgarden and Audioslave sound with one album able to be classified as Alternative rock, hard rock and adult contemporary (from Wikipedia) while another one could be classified as synthpop/dancepop/electropop thanks to the magic of Timbaland who produced the album (he would also produce an EP by him as well that also followed in the same style as the full fledge album but would then return to rock for the next full album as Timbaland was let go) May he RIP.

I have heard just about every song ( mainly from Soundgarden and Audioslave ) that he's come out with. As a matter of fact, I listen to Audioslave's first album "Audioslave" at least once a day. It might sound cliche but it will never sound the same again. I was extremely upset to hear about this a couple days ago, and I honestly thought it was a hoax at first. I couldn't believe it happened.

Chris Cornell was an outstanding vocalist...maybe even the best vocalist in the rock community. He was one of my favorite singers of all time. Every single one of his fans will miss him.

I was very sad to hear about Chris passing away a couple of days ago. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest. I was VERY into the music scene from that area. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden were among my favorite groups from that era. For those of us that grew up in the 80's and 90s its getting really old waking up and wondering which of our favorites have passed away WAY TOO YOUNG. Its getting to the point where we are going to have to ask ourselves which of them are STILL ALIVE...

IMHO Chris Cornell had the best Technically Refined voice in rock Since Freddy Mercury. He was so versatile, so powerful and filled with emotion. Just awesome.

May he RIP - He will be sorely missed.

That was a really unexpected development... There'll probably never be another vocalist like him. His sound was 100% unique.

I still haven't told my dad about it yet because I don't know if he knows yet. Don't wanna get him bummed.
