I know of a man who refuses to carry a bag (he thinks they look like purses and he would never be caught dead carrying one), but he has to carry his cell phone and unless he stuffs it into the pockets of his pants, he doesn't know where else to keep it. Before you ask, he also refuses to carry fanny packs unless he's on vacation and trying to look like a tourist. At work, he doesn't tend to wear jackets with pockets and the pockets on his shirt are usually already crammed full of writing utensils. Although he enjoys clipping the phone onto his belt like a pager, that solution doesn't work for him because he's broken every single clip that he's ever used, and they never last for more than a few days.

Well, recently, he put his cell phone into his pants pocket and it slid out onto public transportation when he fell asleep. He accidentally left without the phone but was lucky and managed to get it back the next day after rushing to find the people at the lost and found for the bus stations. Since he still insists on not carrying any bags or purses (only a small wallet) and still stuffs his phone into his pants pockets (one would think he would have learned his lesson by now, right?), I now turn to you, the brilliant minds of Vizzed, for advice. How do you carry your cell phone(s) and what would you suggest for this incredibly stubborn guy?

(If it helps any, he loves his briefcases and backpacks but he never, and I must emphasize never uses them to carry his cell phone. =/ ) After trying to get him to use miniature backpacks and even sacks and pouches to no avail, I'm now at a complete loss as to what to get him, but he really needs some sort of solution before he loses his cell phone for real.

Please feel free to post your ideas. Any advice or help with this matter will be greatly appreciated!

Usually, when i go out, i wear a hoodie with zippered pockets (i have 3 pairs of those type of hoodie) and i put my phone there. I used to put it in my pants pocket, until it cracks my phone's LCD (i was wearing a kinda tight pants and I'm kinda fat too, so the pockets is really tight), since then I always put em in my hoodie's pockets, if im at school tho, i always puts em in my backpack

I always wear it in my pants pocket, and though my current one has never fallen off my pocket, older phones did. Still, I think it's the most practical way of carrying it, because if you have to check it or you get called you can get it out with ease.

The only think I can suggest is that he gets pants with bigger pockets so his phone can fit perfectly. Not all brands make their pants' pockets as wide or big, so there goes one more field to check for him. I've had pants where my phone could barely fit and I've had others where I could fit two or three more phones.

You could also correct the problem of jackets without pockets, it's not hard to find some nice styled jackets with a few practical pockets either in the inside or the outside. Maybe he doesn't want pockets in jackets because he takes his jacket off way too often, but he could also get used to only remove his jacket when he can leave his phone somewhere else.

Well, where I live it's very mild to cold most of the year and most of the time very jacket appropriate weather. Personally, I keep my phone in my inner jacket pocket. I listen to music whenever I'm traveling around and it's most convenient and accessible from that pocket!  In the summer when it's too hot for an overcoat or anything, I keep it in my pocket though.

Has he already tried Gorilla Glue, duct tape, a hammer and some WD-40?

In all seriousness, some people tell me I'm OCD because I have a place for everything. I keep a designated pocket for my phone. One thing he could look at is, instead of a clip or fanny pack, he could buy a holster, not unlike what's used for firearms. That should be masculine enough for his tastes.

Always in pockets of some sort.
I already have way too many things on my belt for any kind of belt attachment.

I don't have a cell phone, but when I do get one next month, I'll be carrying it in my pockets. I used to have a phone that could fit in this holder thing that attached to your pocket, but I found it extremely annoying, heh.

Mostly in my pocket, I mean that's where I think most of us put it when we are out and about.

I carry my cell phone in my hoodie pocket. If I play a game, it's usually zipped up and hidden away so it can't get lost, and when I'm done, I can easily access it to re-connect with the world.

It's never more than 3 feet away from me, and only ever that far when required to by the school.

I almost always keep my iphone in my right pants pocket and my Nokia in my left. If I'm charging my iphone, then I keep it in my right jacket/hoodie pocket and if I'm charging my Nokia, then it has no reason to be outside with me.

I just put it in my front pocket.

Not the most healthy thing in the world but I'm too lazy to put it in a bag or something like that

Oh wow! Thank you all so much for all of these suggestions! I guess, from looking at all of your responses, that I should probably have the guy go buy himself some new clothes with pockets, or try to get him to stop carrying so many writing utensils so that he can put his phone into that front pocket. lol

EX Palen : Yes, he frequently takes off his jacket, usually once he's inside a building. lol ^^0;;

m0ssb3rg935 : rofl If only he'd try them! XD j/k Actually, a holster sounds pretty interesting since I'm pretty sure he hasn't considered that one yet. I'll ask him about it. Thank you for the idea!

Vanelan : Oh my... lol I'll add another vote for pocket then. Thank you!

Furret : It may be hard to try to convince him to use the front pocket but I guess I'll try since most everyone's mentioned using a pocket now. lol

Thank you again for all your help!

Always pants pocket.

I used to have this geeky carrying case but it looked stupid and stuck out of my shirt so I said no.

It is what most people are doing today anyways...
