Sonic Generations is Sonic's 20th aniverssary game. It was released on November 3, 2011 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and 3DS. It was met with critical claim upon release, and is regarded by many as one of the best Sonic games in the series. What do I think of it? Are the critics right? Is this a game that you should buy? If you're looking for answers to any of these questions, this review is for you.

Graphics - 10
The graphics in Sonic Generations are, to put it simply, amazing. Every single model and texture in this game is clean to the max. Even when you're playing as Modern Sonic and you're boosting, you can still see your surroundings quite easily. I am not exaggerating when I say every single thing in this game is smooth and clean, and just simply looking at the graphics drives me crazy in a way that I cannot accurately put into words.

Sound - 10
The music in this game is absolutely perfect. Not only are there a few new tracks in this game, but most of the soundtrack is remixes or remakes of older songs in the series, and they are all amazing. Each song fits the theme of the level perfectly, like always. The sound effects are always entertaining to hear, such as enemy sounds and drifting. Everything in this game is just pure joy to your ears.

Addictiveness - 10
This game is around 5 years old, and I still find myself playing it. The combination of Classic and Modern styled gameplay was such a great idea and it never fails to entertain me. I think Sonic Generations gives me more of that "adrenaline rush" kind of feeling whenever you boost more than any other game in the series, and I absolutely love it to death. It's always fun, no matter what.

Story - 8
Sure, the story in this game isn't as heavy as the Adventure series. Heck, it isn't even as heavy as the story in Colors. But, the story works for what it is, and that's what really counts. The premise of Sonic Generations was fun, exciting gameplay, and it delivered well. The basic story is this: It's Sonic's 20th birthday, and all of his friends have come over to celebrate. Out of nowhere, some dark, big, purple monster kidnaps all of his friends and sends them across time and space. Sonic eventually meets up with his past self and they travel through time to rescue their friends. There is a little surprise that I didn't really expect at the end, which I though was pretty cool.

Depth - 7
Don't get me wrong, there's stuff to do in this game. I just wish there was more. I'm probably just being a little selfish because I love this game so much. Once you finish the main game, you can do a couple of different things. Each level contains 5 red star rings, and each red star ring unlocks something in the gallery. There are several challenges for each level, and each challenge will unlock something in the gallery as well. You can also buy multiple different kinds of skills and equip them to make a skill set for both Sonics. In addition to all of this, there's a secret trophy room in the game where you can input codes to unlock various trophies of various characters/objects throughout the Sonic franchise.

Difficulty - 6
This game isn't that hard. Most of the levels are pretty easy, and I only really had trouble with the last few levels. The difficulty of this game comes from the challenges and the Hard Mode bosses. Each boss has a Hard Mode, which makes them significantly stronger and harder to defeat. A lot of the challenges are difficult, and it will take you several tries to beat them.

Overall - 9.2
Sonic Generations definitely lands somewhere in my top 5 Sonic games. It might be somewhere around #4 or #5, but it's still an amazing game nonetheless. Sonic Generations showed how fun and exciting Sonic games can be if done right, and I'm glad Sonic Team decided to release the game the way it was. Project Sonic 2017 features both Classic and Modern Sonic as well, so it seems like gameplay will be similar to Sonic Generations in that game, which gets me really hyped up. If this review has gotten you somewhat interested in picking this game up, I highly recommend you do so. I promise you, you won't regret it.

Lexatom : Maybe one day you can consider of being a reviewer in real life? You are very talented lunar. You did a review on one of my favourite sonic games. I enjoyed reading it! I always looking forward to whatever review you do.

I know for a fact for some reason some people didn't like this game....
