Today I basically bought my first legend of Zelda game ever, Ocarina of Time 3D and I need advice. I never really cared for the Zelda games too much but it wasn't on a big sale at Walmart so I had to get it.

Is this game good or are there other 3DS Zelda games that I should have gotten instead?

What's the story/gameplay like?

zanderlex : I can't say I have any experience with any of the 3DS Zelda games, despite owning Majora's Mask 3D. What I can say is that, for Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D, you should try to give it a fair chance. Take into consideration that they're remasters of the Nintendo 64 titles, though with a lot of enhancements and new, more portable console oriented features, from what I've read. I can't really describe the story without giving too much away, but it's not a really story heavy game. It's primarily an action adventure game with some small puzzle elements in the dungeons and temples.

zanderlex: I actually liked and have both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask remastered. They are both good titles and you will want to be playing them for hours. Ocarina of Time in particular is a good choice. As it feels like a fun, more open-world kind of game to be honest. Majora's Mask is a great game too, but it is often difficult, as you only have three days in order to stop the end of the world from happening. 

So basically, I am not judging you here, you could have chosen what game that you wanted (or both if you have the $$$) and enjoy the great titles. To be honest, I like them both, but Ocarina of Time was personally better for me, so it was a good choice. (sorry for the long explanation, I could have said Ocarina of Time was better, but I started explaining too much).

I've finished both Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D, and I'd say that OoT is definitely a great game to start anyone off in the franchise.
Not getting Majora's Mask as your introductory game was a good choice, because that game, while awesome, is quite obtuse and could be seen as alienating.
The gameplay is what is now standard adventure fare, but was revolutionary at the time that the game was released. You'll traverse through different towns, helping out different civilians, completing dungeons, and defeating monsters. It's all very fun.
The story isn't necessarily astounding or engrossing, but it's very well-told. It's all about saving the kingdom from evil and all that. You've heard it before. But the amount of lovable characters and epic storytelling make it enjoyable.
Have fun with OoT, I think it's a game that most anyone can enjoy. There's a reason as to why it's often thought of as one of the greatest games of all time.

Ocarina of Time is critically acclaimed and many call it the best game of all time. Remakes tend to be better than the original. I really enjoy Ocarina of Time 3D. The other 3DS Zelda games are Majora's Mask 3D, Hyrule Warriors Legends, Triforce Heroes, and A Link Between Worlds. My favorite of the 3DS bunch is A Link Between Worlds, which also happens to be my favorite game in the series. I'd say give the 3D remakes and A Link Between Worlds a go. Hyrule Warriors Legends is a spinoff I never played and Triforce Heroes was fun until people stopped playing it.

Are there really that many different 3DS versions of Zelda? If I take all those into account with regular DS games, then it would probably take me forever to play all of the DS and 3DS Zelda games, not to mention it would probably cost me well over $200, which is a big no no for me. I do plan on getting at least one other Zelda game, but I still haven the decided on which one yet.

You made a good choice in getting Ocarina of Time. It's still to this day my favorite Zelda game ever.. Out of the 4 3DS Zelda titles, there are 3 that are worth buying. OOT 3D, Majora's Mask 3D, and Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (which btw was Watchmojo's pick for #1 3ds game). The only one not worth buying is Triforce Heroes. It's only "enjoyabkle" when playing with others.

gamerforlifeforever : Cool thanks. What about Zelda games for regular DS? Are there any for that? Any good ones? If there are, I'd probably be inclined to get one of those first because of the prices.

zanderlex : The 2 handheld games for the 3ds are Phantom Hourglass, (which is a sequel to Wind Waker), and Spirit Tracks. Which one's better seems to be mostly personal prefedrence. I've heard some people say Phantom Hourglass is beter, and I've heard people say Spirit Tracks is better. I personally wasn't a fan of Spirit Tracks, but I liked Phantom Hourglass.

Last one I played was Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time which made the N64 version seemed like a major step above it, I hate that i never got to play Majora's Mask for the 3DS but I lost my 3DS a long time ago.
