As many of you know, we had a Supermoon yesterday. A supermoon, is when ..."a full moon makes its closest pass to Earth". As a result, "...it shines 30% more moonlight onto the Earth" (NASA). This is the closest it has been since 1948; next one is expected on 2034.

It's basically what happened on the movie Bruce Almighty,  when Bruce (Jim Carey) became God and wanted to impress his wife played by Jennifer Aniston so he wrapped an invisible lasso around the moon and pulled really hard until the moon was extremely close to the balcony. Of course, the next day, mayhem took over- wales were out of the ocean etc.

Luckily, that wasn't our case. If you didn't see it, it was very large, beautiful, bright, and definitely not made of cheese.
I took this picture Sunday night- I live surrounded by trees so luckily other people took better pictures!

Here are some pictures taken around the world.

These were my favorite but, you can see more by visiting my local newspaper Ocala Starbanner:

Did anyone else see it? Share any pictures you have; maybe we can compare it to the next supermoon on 2034 .

It was yesterday??!!?!?!? I read in the paper yesterday that it was on Sunday so I was dispaointed that I missed it and now you're telling me that I could have still seen it? I really wanted to see it, but I guess I'll just wait until next time around.

zanderlex : I'll be 42 years old when the next supermoon comes around . Yes sir it was last night. I forgot but, I did see it on Sunday which was very bright so I can only picture how bright it was last night. Funny thing is I went outside to my porch trying to figure out which darn light was on because of  how bright it was... I just concluded that it must be someone nearby... now that I think about it... it was the darn moon -__-' Welp, hey at least you can see the pictures

I saw it but I expect it to be really huge than normal, not just a little.

So sad that I missed the supermoon since I was sleeping. Would be so cool to see it, but I felt a sleep at round 6am since I was tired after work
