I'm sure you all do it, right? You just buy something because you think you need it so bad or you get such a good deal on something that you need to rake in the savings.

I do this a lot on eBay when it comes to baseball cards, if I find something I like that's cheaper than normal or something I know I can flip for a profit, I just have to buy it.


A few days ago there was a baseball card on eBay that a lot of people like and pay good money for. It was $140 and I was able to get it for $120 because of Best Offer. I think that was a steal because the card has an official value of $300 so I can in turn trade it for so much more.

I also impulse buy video games, especially collectors edition versions.

What about you? How bad are your spending habits?

Well my spending habit used to be bad.....like I used to buy a lot of things from Amazon and draining money from my mothers card which was on my account. I don't have my own card sadly so my mother allows me to use one of hers that is onto my bank account. Now I don't spend as much. Sometimes I buy things every now and then but not as much as I did in the past. One time I spent 300 or 200 pounds for my bead jewellery stuff...

Eniitan : uhh is 300 pounds a lot? How much is that compared to other items? Like if you were to buy games, or food?

zanderlex : Yeah I know it was stupid at the time. Yes I also buy food and games as well. Food such as pringles, chocolates and games either for whatever console I have at home ps1, ps2 or Wii. I've just calm down on what I buy now since before I didn't do it the best way possible. With jewellery I didn't get like one colour and one size. I would usually get like for instance 8mm size in all colours so which came in a bulk. For those ones they are really expensive like around 20 or 30 pounds.

zanderlex : Oh....my bad sorry about that. When I buy either food or games they don't cost as much really. Because with jewellery I was doing more if it I spend more for that then food and games. Games I can get doesn't go up to more than 20 pounds. But, it depends how popular they are the more popular he game is the more expensive they will get priced. Did I mange to answer correctly this time?

I don't get to do it often, but I'm always looking for flea markets, junk stores or yard sale. There are two times to buy: when you need it and when the price is right. I managed to bag a Gamecube with wires, two controllers, a memory card, GameBoy Player deck with boot disk, complete in box with manual, a loose copy of Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, a CIB copy of Crazy Taxi, CIB with manual Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and a GameBoy Camera for $60 shipped, later to find out that the GameBoy Player boot disk was worth $50 alone. Also did the same thing with a Genesis bundle at the local flea market that included a virtually mint console, wires, controller and about 20 games for $50 and later found out that one of the games that came with it, Castlevania Bloodlines, was worth about $50. So I basically payed full price for the game and got everything else free.

Oh, boy, I knew I'd come across this one day. 
My impulse buying is the WORST thing, if I could change anything about me, it would be that - that's saying something, because I hate 90% of me. 

In March of this year (2016), I had a bank account with £1,900 in it (give or take.) NOW, in this month, it dropped to £800, because I bought:
£500 worth of games/DLC
£400 on miscellaneous stuff that I can't remember all of.
£200 on food. 

I also lost my job the month before. (I say lost, but I quit) This makes the money drop a lot worse. 
I also haven't been able to get another job, but I have an interview for a psych-ward. Working there, not being admitted. So, hopefully, that gets me a job that I get:
17k a year at the start and an NVQ level 3-5.

OBVIOUSLY, this means I spend even more money that I don't have in order to get there everyday. 
So, even in my pursuit to make money, I have to spend money that I don't have.

All because - I have the WORST ability to hold myself back.
Maybe I do need to be admitted into the psych ward.

The only thing I impulse spend on would be food. I can't think of anything else really. I don't impulse on anything of real value. I'm married so I can't really justify coming home with hundreds of dollars of stuff that we don't need.

Now-a-days I rarely spend money on impulse because I try to save up as much as possible, so I only spend money on what's absolutely necessary. A few years ago I was more care free and went absolutely crazy with sales, like Steam sales. I could spend 100€ easily on games I'd later on regret buying. Thankfully there's the refund option on Steam now. Same goes for cd's and clothes, I can go crazy with buying if I find a new shop that sells them. I belong to a Facebook group where people may sell their games and consoles and I am so tempted to buy something everyday... So far I've only given in on one deal, I got four PS3 games for 20€ so I think it was a pretty good purchase, but a week later I discovered that my PS3 is breaking down so I haven't even played any of the games yet. *sigh*

sillysoul : lol I wish I was more like you. If I have money, I buy what I need first, which is good and then I usually splurge. Like what I'll do today lol.
