Welcome to the thread about fruits. Don't ask why A scene from Family Guy go me to think about bananas all day, even I don't get it.

Here is the place to talk about fruits and also vegetables.

Do you eat enough? Which ones do you like or hate?

I rarely eat fruit, I only eat and drink things that taste like fruit and in general I like apples, bananas, and oranges. Can't stand pineapples.

Well I do tend to eat them when I can really. Most of the time my mother buys fruits for me such as tangerines or lemons. Those are the most I tend to eat in the past I used to eat a lot of pears. I still do sometimes but not as much now sadly. Because I forget to ask my mother to buy me some. As for veggies I eat a lot such as sweetcorn, parsnips, carrots, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower and more.

I don't eat fruit since a couple or three years ago, I got them off my diet as per my nutritionist's recommendation. However, since things are going so uphill lately, I may start to eat them once every while and see if they can be re-introduced in my diet.

Veggies weren't taken off my diet, but I was recommended to eat them just once or twice a week. I don't have a clear predilection for anything in particular, though, I'm more inclined towards other kinds of food.

I'm not real big on fruit, really. I like Grapes and an Orange once in a while if it's just before it gets over ripe, when it's at it's peak sweetness. Other than that, not really, unless you count dried Currants, which are like Raisins but are smaller, sweeter and have a sugary grittiness about them. Apples are okay and a bite of a Peach is cool once in a while but I can't stand Bananas or Pineapple.

I don't care much for veggies, either. I don't think Corn or Potatoes count and I'll only eat Green Beans, Peas or Carrots if they've been canned. Probably has something to do with the brine they're in changing the flavor.

I'm just a Meat, Potatoes and Bread kinduh guy.

zanderlex : Aww… It’s sad that you rarely eat fruits, but at least you still drink the juice for them sometimes… right? ^^0;;

*Goes bananas about this thread* XD I love fruits and vegetables! Well, I don’t love them as much as a good friend of mine loves fruits (they will literally buy 10 different types of fruits at once if they go out shopping while they’re hungry!) but I still love them and I’ll eat fruits and veggies whenever I get the chance. My fruit-loving friend is always extolling the benefits of antioxidants and how fruits like apples are high in fiber and vitamins and some great for the skin, so over time, I’ve also come to believe that fruits are some of the healthiest cancer-fighting foods around.

Thus, I place more of a premium on fruits, so although I do eat enough fruits, I sometimes don’t end up eating enough vegetables even though I don’t dislike or hate any fruits/veggies (I guess I just haven’t come across any that I dislike yet). lol I also tend to eat the fruits and vegetables even after they’ve been baked or cooked.

These are some of my favorite fruits and vegetables, in no particular order:

Apples - I love apples and I like them in most forms and in pretty much anything. I often eat apple pies, apple fritters, baked apple desserts, apple candies and gummies, caramel apples, apple and cinnamon oatmeal, Apple Jacks (rofl), apple sauce, apple muffins, dried apples and apple chips, and fresh apple slices in freshly tossed salad with walnuts. For instance, when I meet up with friends at places like Panera, I would order the Fuji Apple Salad with Chicken. There are numerous types of apples out there, but I probably enjoy eating Fuji apples, golden apples, and Granny Smith apples the most. Next to orange juice, apple juice is probably the other type of juice I drink the most. I also enjoy drinking apple juice combined with other types of juice (e.g. cranberry apple juice, apple and peach juice, and weirder ones like apple and carrot juice oO;; ), and sparkling apple cider (only just about every Christmas/New Year!), although I regularly drink apple cider when it’s particularly cold or freezing outside. lol

Oranges - One of my favorite types of juice is definitely orange juice, and I actually do consider this one a staple that I can’t really live without. ^^0;; Not only are oranges super nutritious in terms of Vitamin C, some people have mentioned that they could potentially lower the risk of ischemic strokes for women. Personally, I enjoy drinking freshly squeezed orange juice (with the pulp and all), although when I don’t have enough oranges to make enough orange juice to go around, I would often just cut up the oranges and then serve them in the shape of a blossoming flower. One of my favorite types of oranges for peeling though would have to be ruby red navel oranges. They tend to be sweet beyond belief so I try my best to eat them without spilling the juice everywhere. lol I also think oranges are pretty delicious after they’ve been cooked (yes, you heard that right). When I go to some of the Chinese restaurants, I would sometimes order a dish called Orange Beef (the restaurants I go to are great at making that dish) and underneath the beef, they often actually have slices of oranges that I “incidentally” end up eating even though they were probably meant to be decorations. XD

Guavas - Back in the day, I used to drink guava juice quite a lot whenever I went to some restaurants because that’s what they tended to offer (either guava juice or “orange juice”). The “orange juice” was actually just very watered-down juice from concentrate (I don’t even know if they even had any drops of real orange juice in there), so I tended to choose to drink the guava juice instead. Nowadays, however, whenever I get some guavas, I have a tendency to just eat them as is. Much as I like guavas, I don’t really tend to eat them with anything else. ^^0;;

Peaches - Although I don’t like peaches on their own as much as some of the other fruits, I often enjoy them when eating them with other fruits, or after they’ve been added to something else (e.g. fresh peach slices baked into a fruit pie). Thus, I enjoy eating peach pies, peach cobblers, peach jam, peach crumbles, peach dumplings and peach ice cream. For drinks and refreshments, I enjoy peach tea and peach lemonade. I have yet to try peach bread or peach cookies, but I heard that those are pretty good too, so I’m going to try them at some point. I even like peaches in salsa, which some people find to be a bit odd. ^^0;; Speaking of salsa…

Tomatoes - I love tomatoes and it doesn’t matter much to me whether it’s a fruit or not. =P Tomatoes are the base of a lot of my dishes (e.g. spaghetti, pasta, lasagna, tomato soup, pizza, salads, salsa and chili), so I consider tomatoes to be another important food/staple that’s difficult for me to live without. Depending on the size of the tomatoes, I will sometimes eat them whole (tiny red cherry tomatoes), although I don’t tend to drink tomato juice all that often (because so many companies add too much sodium to their juice) unless the juice was made by one specific company. I don’t know what that company does to make their tomato juice not taste so much like ketchup, but they somehow managed to make their organic tomato juice taste like fresh sweet tomatoes in liquid form without all the seeds and stuff (and without overloading the entire beverage with sodium).
Lemons - For cooking, the lemon has got to be another one of the most versatile fruits, since I use it often when I’m cleaning and also when I’m cooking. XD One of my favorite dishes is lemon pepper chicken, and for drinks, I love almost all the variations of lemonades under the sun.

Strawberries - To me, strawberries are amazing in just about everything. I used to attend strawberry festivals when the strawberries were in season, and in wandering around in those festivals, I discovered so many uses for strawberries that to this day, I still consider them one of the most versatile fruits of all time (they can even be used in lotions, facials, body mists, perfumes, and soap/handwash). I love strawberries in strawberry sundaes, strawberry shortcakes, strawberry jam/preserves, strawberry syrups, and don’t get me started on strawberry smoothies/slushies, strawberry bubble tea and fresh strawberries in drinks. XD Aside from their awesome taste though, strawberries are supposed to be beneficial to one’s health because of their anti-inflammatory properties (that supposedly kicks in after you eat strawberries at least 3 times a week). Needless to say, I tend to choose strawberry (if chocolate is not available as a flavor) when everything else appears to be dubious. =P

Blueberries - One day, I went to pick blueberries in a field with some friends and ever after, I fell in love with blueberries. lol I especially love frozen blueberries, although I’ll eat them as is or in blueberry muffins, blueberry pies, or as blueberry jam. According to my fruit-loving friend, what makes blueberries even more awesome as a strong antioxidant is how they can protect a person’s blood sugar (regulatory system). Supposedly, organic blueberries have even higher potential concentrations of everything that’s beneficial, so I sometimes buy those when I think the price is more reasonable that day. =P

Other Berries - Other berries I enjoy eating include blackberries and raspberries. I don’t tend to consume as many foods with blackberries or raspberries in them, but I enjoy them in teas, jams, ice cream, doughnuts, cheesecakes, and candies such as chocolates.

Watermelons - At many house parties or festivals that I’ve attended, they often have nicely chopped watermelons (and I'm usually the one doing the chopping) that we eat while we watch fireworks. I also enjoy watermelon juice (yes, there is such a thing), although it's not too good to drink too much of that all at once. ^^0;;

As for the other fruits and vegetables that I tend to enjoy but actually don’t eat or drink the juice for all that often, they include limes, pears, cantaloupes, honey dews, pineapples, kiwis, grapes, mangos, papayas (I like papaya milk), persimmons, cucumbers, spinach (Ikr? lol but I like them after they’ve been cooked…), cabbages, bok choy, broccoli, green peppers, and avocados. When prepared right, guacamole is actually one of my favorite foods, so I guess I enjoy avocados quite a bit as well. This, and all of the foods listed above, are most of the foods that I’ve been experimenting with a lot with lately with cooking.
Now for one of the weirder/stranger fruits that most people may not be as familiar with…

Wax apples - I’m not sure how many people even know what wax apples are, but they aren’t apples (they don’t even smell like apples lol) and they’re sort of light and spongy in terms of texture. Wax apples are sort of bell-shaped and on the outside, they tend to be red or pink and on the inside, they are usually green, yellow or white and that’s where one can see the cotton-candy-like spongy parts. To me, the really good ones are huge, heavy and super sweet (and usually a dark red or purplish color), and since they’re usually also not as dry, they don’t end up tasting all that spongy. Sadly, I don’t know of other uses for wax apples because I’ve never seen wax apples used in cooking or anything like that (not even pies). If anything, I’ve heard of wax apple jelly/fruit preserves, but I have yet to try that.

This is a picture of some wax apples:

This is kind of how I would chop up the wax apples in order to serve/eat them (wax apples have cores that need to be removed before they can be consumed):

Last, but not least, I love bananas! They are high in potassium and I love adding them to ice cream to make awesome banana splits.

I almost never eat fruits. Like I'll get an apple if we have nothing else but that's about it.

Don't like how sweet most of them are. The only fruits I like are apples, pears and bananas.

Now vegetables on the other hand, I eat plenty of them. I would take 1 vegetable over 20 fruits lol, #TeamVegetables
