CHARACTER

Simon Belmont is the protagonist of the original Castlevania/Akumajou Dracula game by Konami and it's sequel Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest.

STORY
In 1691, Dracula was resurrected. As people feared for their lives, Simon of the legendary Belmont family, which had fought and defeated Dracula several times over the years, stepped up to fulfill his role, taking his clan's whip, the Vampire Killer, to defeat Dracula once again. As he went through Dracula's castle, he fought several deadly monsters until he finally made it face to face with the count himself. Simon managed to strike the legendary vampire down, but afterwards, he suddenly started to feel very ill. Seven years later, a mysterious woman came to him and told him that as a last resort, Dracula had put a curse on him, and if Simon didn't manage to find his remains, which were scattered all throughout Transylvania, and defeat Dracula again, the curse would lead to his death. After a long quest, Simon did indeed manage to do so, and after defeating the count for a second time, the curse was broken, and his status as a legend of his clan was cemented. In the fighting game Castlevania Judgement, Simon was taken somewhere between his two adventures, and longed to prove  to himself that he was a true Belmont, not just a regular man whose only strength was his family's whip, which, after defeating his ancestor Trevor and his allies, he managed to do so. He also starred in the non-canon arcade game Haunted castle, in which he set out to save his fiance from Dracula.

ABILITIES

Simon has a very basic and limited skill set in comparison to other Castlevania heroes. In the original game, he has extremely slow walking speed, along with no ability to control his jumps in midair. His main weapon is the vampire killer, which he can upgrade twice, going from a short, weak leather whip, to a stronger flail, to a longer Chain whip. Also, he can find several "Sub weapons". Axes which he can toss in an arc, Holy water which he can smash on the ground to create a small fire, Daggers which he can throw in a straight line, a stop watch to stop time for a short period, and a powerful Cross that acts like a boomerang when thrown. However, in Super Castlevania IV, Simon was given much improved versatility, with the abilities to use his whip to swing from a grappling hook, crouch and move while doing so, and crack his whip in all directions, along with newfound ability to control his jumps.

PERSONALITY

As one of the first heroes created during the 8 bit era of gaming, Simon really doesn't have much of a personality in his games. However, in Castlevania Judgement, he seems to be a very serious man, who takes his title as a Belmont and role in killing the undead with much responsibility, while still suffering from self doubt.

Simon has been in more games than any other Castlevania hero, be they cameos, crossovers, or remakes of his original adventure.
