There's hundreds of anti-viruses out there, whether they're legit or rogues. People all the time say, oh, X antivirus is better, or Y antivirus is better, but really, which one is the one you use, and which one do you think is really the best?

Currently I'm using Bitdefender for real-time scans, which was recommended by a friend. Its full system scans are pretty slow but it's done a good job of finding threats that other anti-viruses couldn't find. I'm also using Malwarebytes to scan specific files that I may deem as suspicious.

I always have avast free antivirus installed on all of my devices I use. Seems like it does the job well and it's free. It has a good real time scan thing and...

I really like it's "smart scan" feature. Not only it quickly scans your device for viruses, but also tells you if you have outdated software and updates them for you. There are also a few other things I don't quite pay attention too but looks useful.

Only annoying thing is the performance part of the smart scan because it tells you if you have unnecessary files. software, or settings that make your computer slower, but it does not actually fix it for you. Instead you get redirected to this page where you have to pay for some premium feature to enable it. But I think there is a way to customize the smart scan to skip this so it doesn't waste your time. 

There is also this web browser that now comes with avast that is supposed to be more secure and stuff, though I never really use it. I have also used avira free antivirus before which technically has a slightly better real time scan detection rate but it's sometimes too glitchy which is why I use avast instead (and I don't think it has a smart scan thing like avast).

I run Avast! free and Malwarebytes free. I really can't say I know if it's that great or not because I'm pretty much a computer n00b, but it was recommended by someone who worked on computers for a living for a while. I tried AVG for a while, but was told to get rid of it because a company in the Czech Republic bought them out and now takes part in data mining and sells info to third parties.

Mohammedroxx3 : I torrented Avast!'s browser and I've never used anything so freaking slow in my life.... Of course, that could have something to do with the amount of RAM it took. I opened up Task Manager and found like... 12 processes that, together, were taking up over 1GB, if I remember right. I was also running it on a really bad computer, but it was running a lot slower than Firefox or Opera.

   I primarily use IObit Malware Fighter, because it's simple, non-invasive, and easy to scan and update its database. I've used other antivirus programs before, but they just haven't been up to snuff.

   Avast Free was alright, until I upgraded to Windows 10. It somehow caused problems with the OS, making most of the UI practically unusable. When I found out that this was causing the problem, I uninstalled it, and sure enough, the OS was working all fine and dandy afterwards.
What also drives me away from this is that although it's non-interfering, it's super-annoying when it does find a virus. My brother's perpetually virus-ridden laptop would drive us nuts, going "BING BING BING THREAT HAS BEEN DETECTED" at full volume, every 10 minutes.

   For us, McAfee was the worst. It would drive us nuts with its scheduled scans, and its web security as paranoid as Joe McCarthy would alert me on many sites I knew were safe.
It also locked my brother out of his old phone, wiped it, and wouldn't even let him connect to WiFi to help recover the account. Our mom had to dig deep into the forums to find the default reset code.

I run YOLO Antivirus: Ballin' Edition. In other words, I'm pissing at the wind and praying I don't hit myself. Malwarebytes Antimalware is pretty good though if you ask me.

I'm also going to be that guy and say who needs antivirus when you can just run Linux?

IOBit Malware Fighter. I like it because it's not too obnoxious but it alerts you if you have a potential security breach.

I prefer Norton. I don't know... I just do. 

My brain. I have Windows Defender installed, however, and it suits me fine, the only issue being is that WinKawaks (a CPS1/CPS2/Neo Geo emulator) is flagged as a Trojan by it, for some reason. However, I tend not to download things that look fishy or malicious anyway, and haven't been infected with any proper malware that I've been unable to remove without a full re-install since around late 2012.

I personally just use Windows Defender.  It's good enough for me honestly and it's completely non-invasive.  I used to use Avast, which is good too.

For Malware, I've always used Malwarebytes, but lately it's become a bit intrusive.  I see the comments saying that they use IOBit Malware Fighter and that it's non-invasive, so I may give that a try,

Minuano : my computer has avast which I find does a really good job of picking up and removing viruses a few years ago my computer picked up a virus from a game website I went to and within 1 hour avast was able to remove the virus although I have tried avg in the past I find that all it did was slow down my computer

I've tried so many antiviruses (including Norton, McAfee, Avast, AVG, Bitdefender and Kaspersky, and I'm still currently using one of them) and found that all of them have their own shortcomings, so I've stopped trying to rely on only an antivirus to keep my computer safe (not that I use them all together because that would defeat them all rofl). I guess I just haven't come across the "best antivirus" for me yet. Most of the time, it just boils down to my own personal browsing habits. It seems to me that if I can recognize that a site is bad, then I can stay out of/away from some of the most dangerous zones on the web. In other words, I will often check the integrity of a site before actually clicking on the links or any of its downloads. If I have to download something but it still seems suspicious to me, I usually end up sending the items to a certain part of my computer that I tried to set up specifically to handle those issues and other potentially problematic downloads.

MalwareBytes combined with CCleaner makes for the best kind of computer protection I've ever seen, for free at least. They both do a very good job at protecting/scanning your computer and letting you know of any possible problems that may come up. They have both helped me out in many sticky situations in the past.

I prefer Panda Antivirus. Its the least over protective antivirus that still gets the job done right. Avast screws up my PC and AVG detects too many false positives, also i cant deem them as safe anyway.

Well I'm a little cheap so I prefer to use the Norton security  Free trails over and over again..  I guess I just prefer them because the set up is easy and easy to follow and customize although my only complaint is it does it job pretty  well considering I do use pirated programs and sites for music, television,movies etc. and it warns me constantly about the history and reputation of the site as well as blocks some of the added content within the stuff I download like the sketchy harmful files and I can honestly say my computer does run faster with Norton installed 

Malwarebytes, avast, and common sense. I don't think I've got a virus before, but I've only had my computer for like, 3 or 4 years. I think I'm gonna remove avast and just use windows defender.

I use Avast Mobile Security Premium on my Android devices, as it's worked well for me. Regular scans and such help to make sure that there's no viruses on them.

I have used all of them at one time or another (Norton, BitDefender, Avast, AVG, McAfee, and others I have forgotten) My work computers use Norton and it sucks the life out of them. I presently am using Microsoft Security Essentials on my personal computer and it seems to be doing okay although it takes hours to run a scan. I have never used Malwarebytes, but will look into it.

I just use the free version of Avast! because... Well it's free. Also my current PC was given to me by someone who bought it at a yard sale, and the previous owners were younger kids who had downloaded all sorts of pirated stuff and cracked games.

Needless to say, it ran pretty poorly and had a crazy amount of adware on it, which turned random text into ads, popped up additional ads on every page, and just ran slowly overall. I ran one full scan and scanned everything on that computer. It took probably an hour, but man I'm telling you that thing found like fifty or sixty viruses and removed them all. lol The PC ran beautifully after that.

Same goes for mobile. I used to use Lookout but it doesn't seem as good anymore and Avast!, while more resource intense, does a better job scanning and detecting issues. I'm careful with my browsing on any device and so it's rare that I have any issues, but when I do, Avast! always manages to catch them.


EDIT: I forgot to say that Avast! does throw some false positives, but it does it's job well enough to make up for it. I don't know if it's the best, but it's good.

The only anti virus I ever use is Trend Micro Maximum Security.  It just always worked for me.  It never really got to do anything since I'm a relatively safe internet surfer, but it never hurts to have that extra bit of security just in case.
