Social interaction is the crust of humanity's triumph. With it, we can spread various tools and necessities across the planet with ease. Many people are social and like hanging out with their various friends at times. It can be quite thrilling, actually. Loners on the other hand, might just prefer their solitude and personal space, with no malicious intentions involved. They can relax while being alone. However, that doesn't mean that they absolutely despise social gatherings. They are just less inclined towards them.  They can be pretty social too, at least around friends and all. 

Note: Perhaps you can be a combination of both, and that's fine. (Would that make you semi-social?)  I'm just asking which one you naturally lean to, regardless of intentions.

Do you prefer solitude or company and why so? Do you lean a bit towards the other spectrum at points? Can you become more social when discussing something that interests you? Are you good at starting conversations/small talk? Thanks for reading. 

Vanelan: You're social on the internet so I'd guess that makes you social in a way. But if you mostly aren't like that in reality you are probably in between. Perhaps "semi-social". 

RDay13: I guess if you don't consider yourself either, that would make you semi-social or situational-social, then.

Hard to say.....for me would be like a bit of both? Because I really do try to socialize when I can it may not be all the time, but at times I do it to keep my family happy as they would like normally complain why I always stay in my room and all. I like my alone time because its peace for me, and I am used to it most of the time. But, I want to try and go out more when I can to experience new things you know? Its not always good to lock yourself in the house doing the same thing over, and over again.

Eh, that's tricky. I'm probably somewhere in between the two really. Those who know me usually talk to me fairly often, and I'm not exactly a recluse, but I don't tend to just start a conversation with people. Usually more of a watcher and listener than a talker; That's not to say I'm incapable, it's just about the situation I suppose.

I'm terribly anti-social. It's not that I want to be, it's just that, I've been isolated most (read:all) of my childhood so I'm horribly lacking in social skills. I literally can't just walk up to a person and start a conversation, even the thought scares me.And that's the sad truth.

I don't consider myself either a loner or a social person. I like being alone at times, and I like talking at times as well. It depends on the situation and who I'm with. If I'm not in a good mood, I prefer to be alone and stay quiet. If I'm in a good mood, and I feel like talking, then I can be social. 

I think I'm part of both actually.

While I'd describe myself as introverted, there are times where I hate being alone. And being alone for an extended period of time makes me super bored. I also really enjoy talking to close friends, even if at times the two of us don't have anything to discuss because we've discussed them all XD.

It's just that I have a hard time talking to people I've never talked to before. And while finding out that we have something in common usually helps the process, I just have a hard time getting out of my bubble you could say.

I'd say I'm more of a loner.

The friends I have are just crazy idiots like me, but beyond that we have very few things in common. As such, I don't feel 100% comfortable when being with them. I like spending time with them from time to time because I have so much fun and I relieve any stress built upon me, but months can pass without seeing them and I'm equally happy.

Due to having my own personal and unique tastes, I enjoy being alone. More often than not, I want to be alone when I'm with more people rather than wanting to be with people when I'm alone. I have my own hobbies to pass time, so I hardly get bored (unless the timing isn't right, it's easy to be bored at 5 AM being home alone). It also allows me to enjoy my things at its fullest: moving my consoles to the big TV, playing music louder than usual, eating at my own timing... It can get bothersome after a while, but I always search for something else to do.

Hm, not to sure about this one. It isn't like I just avoid any and all human contact, but I don't necessarily enjoy it all of the time, either. Most of the time I do spend what free time I have alone, but I see people outside of my family quite often, so I guess that while, in reality, I'm probably closer to the middle of the spectrum for this one, if I did have to choose one side of it, I would almost certainly have to go with being a loner in general.

I guess I'm kind of in between? I'm quiet around people sometimes from when I first meet them to around a week or so, then I finally feel comfortable with them. Pretty sure Asperger's plays a big factor in that.

I don't really care for interacting with people at all, unless they are actually a friend of mine. If some one is around, I may or may not speak with them depending how I feel or my mood, but I really prefer to be alone almost all of the time. If I'm depressed or angry about some thing, I tend to get extremely quiet, even more so than usual. All that being said, I have no problems talking with some one I know or a perfect stranger, it just depends if I feel up to carrying a conversation. There are people out there I enjoy spending time with or talking to, it's just they are pretty few and far between. A lot of people just get on my nerves in one way or another ( main example being stupidity / blatant ignorance XD ) so I tend to just keep to my self and do my own thing

Really, I'm in between. As a loner, I don't go out to hang out with friends, and I always stay in my room. As a social person, I talk to my friends at school a lot, and I would love to be with them during lunch. Also, I talk to people online.

I really am a loner/antisocial person. Besides school, I never go outside (Which means i've gone out 1 time during the summer, literally). It's not that I don't enjoy human company, I long for it every day, however my social anxiety, bad social skills, not being that interesting, not being able to hold a conversation that well, being really shy, etc... Really limit my ability to do so.
Even online, I sometimes not message someone because I fear/think they'll find me annoying so :v

I used to be a social person, but for the wrong reasons, between the ages of 14 and 19.

Going forward from the ages of 19 to lets say 20 something I was a loner, I kind of am still. I don't have many friends who are Christians.

I would be more or less a combination of what Maguc and Spidey243 said. I can't hold a conversation very well unless it is about certain topics in which I will most likely try to geek out - though I will try to go out sometimes to do something different otherwise I get bored doing the same thing everyday, so I guess that makes me not completely antisocial but just not very good when having to go out and be social. Having a mental condition that affects how I think doesn't help in the slightest and I can't seem to make any permanent friends. :'(

tRIUNE : having friends who aren't Christians makes you a loner?

I am not a loner, I am more of a sociable person. But I never follow. I am more of a leader. I hate being a follower in a group. I want to do my own thing and if my friends don't want too tag along, oh well. 

I fall under both categories I believe! I usually stick to myself in class and a few other social situations, but lately I've started to become a bit more social, making new friends and hanging out with them when I can!

Sometimes being alone is great and I'm okay with it, but other times it's pretty awesome to hang out with friends. I guess it just depends on your mood that day [for me at least!].

NintendoFanKimmy : I suppose I didn't word that post the way I thought I did. I have a few friends who aren't Christians, but they are more like acquaintances since we only have common interests in mixed martial arts while they have lifestyles opposite to mine. I also have a few friends who are Christians, but they are also more like acquaintances since we don't have much in common.
