So this is going to work as some sort of a blog for the summer about my job, which happens to be really cool, aside for the part about me wanting to throw myself off a bridge in the morning when the alarm rings. I was planning on making this a few days ago but I've been doing sooo much and ill try to post a couple times a week and talk about what's been going on, especially the fun stuff.

If you have ever seen a movie like the taking of Pelham 123, a few other NYC movies, or been to NYC, you might have seen guys wearing those orange and red vests. On my 3rd day of the job I got my own, but it's mainly for walking between offices which are pretty far apart.

That was also the day I was introduced to the other offices, I had to go there to do some work and if you like trains and buses, the walk would be an amazing experience. It was maybe 2 to 3 blocks long, through a massive bus hanger, a train yard, and bus facilities. Seriously, you walk and just 2 feet from you is a train just sitting there, it's amazing.

I have been doing a lot of paperwork already and a ton of other cool things and have already racked up 20 hours, so almost $200 but there's been a problem since I haven't been given anything yet to sign in and out, so I will probably get my first check 2 weeks late.

I'm happy that you're posting about this a lot, like I said before it sounds like a cool job. I've only been on a subway train once last year so being able to walk next to a train would be really great for me too I hope you'll be able to sign in and out soon, I'd be anxious to get my first check and waiting 2 weeks would be hard.

I'm glad you're enjoying your job. Make sure you find ways to keep up that enjoyment so you don't throw yourself off a bridge

That is standard for week to week paydays,typically your first check is delayed. But if you are paid for 2 weeks,they should not have to delay you. Just remember it is a job,and they do not pay you to bring your issues to work.

As for the Pokemon Go thing,you might want to be sure you could actually use your cellphone at work. I did post about a guy who may have lost his job due to playing that game on another thread.

I managed to find out about signing, their going to send a time sheet on Monday, so the time sheet would probably be sent in the following Monday and ill get my 1st 2 week check after working for 4 weeks, at the same time I get my 2nd check.

Any time you start a new job you haven't done before it's always exciting, the waiting period for the first check put aside. As for the waking up thing, just give it a week or two staying on the new schedule, and you should adjust pretty quick. That, or do something to make yourself fall asleep a little sooner. There's always a way to make it happen. 

I'm still not sure exactly what it is you're doing, but it seems you really enjoy it for the most part. You can't ask for anything more out of a job than to at least somewhat enjoy what you're being paid for

Mynamescox44 : I've been waking up at the same time or earlier for years, it just sucks.

Look at it this way,it is a city position and you should be relatively safe there,job wise. Just be warned,as a city employee,you may not get regular pay raises and in some cases,you may lose a percentage of pay. Just do you job,and no one will have a reason to complain. Hope you guys do not get any "Warriors" or "Destroyers" or God-forbid "Furies".

Those are the gang names in the movie and PS2 game,"The Warriors".

Sorry for the late reply in a way been very very busy. Waking up to work and for a certain time is quite annoying, but I am sure soon or you will get used to it. I'm not familiar with the things, that happen in New York to do with guys wearing orange, and red vests. Since as you know I do live in the UK. And so I feel my knowledge for that is quite low, and if I had done the research I should have on that then I would have known. Anyways good to hear that you are enjoying your work in a way. And gaining like different types of experience from that, by meeting new people.

Eniitan : Lol, if I was going to get used to waking up at this time, I would have gotten used to it a long time ago, I've been waking up at the same time for at least a couple of years.


Today was a good day, just left about an hour ago and for the final two hours of the day, I was going over drug tests

zanderlex : Oh...I see lol that's good then. Its always nice to wake up early as said right? You can never know some good things can happen in the morning, and on your way to work as well. I'm glad that you had a good day, that's all a friend would want to hear from their friends. Going over drug tests? How did that make you feel when doing looking into them? Just make sure to rest when you can.

Today was a pretty good day, though I did a lot of nothing since the stuff I did took barely any time at all since it was pretty easy for me. I started off by doing a ton of data entry putting in numbers for amounts of gasoline and diesel that were being delivered and then after that I did some more data entry for various Overtime invoices of various bus depots and their workers. It was cool looking over all these files and learning more things about the place.

Well, the job was a lot of fun, on Friday I had a meeting with everyone else where I returned my badge, transit pass, and vest, so it's done now but the whole thing was a lot of fun. On Friday I got paid, and around the 1st of September I'm gonna get my final check.

zanderlex : I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much! It stinks that you're done already but hopefully your next summer job will be just as fun

Pacman+Mariofan : Eh, hopefully I'm not too old for them next summer, but if I'm not, I'll make sure to get the same job again.

zanderlex : Sounds like you are did very well! Glad to hear that, and its good to have fun too. The pay checks that you got were they high in cost? Like really good ones to help sustain you for what you need to pay for, and stuff? I bet you would want to try the job again for the next summer that comes around. ^^

Eniitan : Nope, they weren't high at all, in fact the check that I just got on Friday will be gone before the start of the weekend, and then I only get one more check which will only be for half of what I got in the last check.

zanderlex : Oh.....I see thanks for answering my question. Do you know ruffly how much dollars you got from working? I know I asked this before, but I wanted to ask again for another reason. Also if you won't be able to get he job again in the summer next year would you be looking for another one?
