pennylessz :   I took French for two years in high school, but I really wanted to take German.  My classes back then would not permit that because I was also in the band...anyway, the language I would most love to learn right now would be Japanese.  I don't mind reading the sub titles to all the anime I watch, but not having to do so, and devoting my entire time just to watching them, would be supremely awesome

Well, At the moment I am being forced to learn French in school. This makes sense, I mean, Canada has a huge population of french people, Especially In the province that I live in. But I really don't want/need to learn french as I'm most likely going to have to move to the states when I'm older so I can work in animation.

I do really want to learn Italian. I know it will be hard, seeing as I have a hard enough time with English. But, I am going to try my best to learn it because my girlfriend is Italian, it's her first languge, and I want to be able to speak to her in Italian because it would be easier for her to understand me.

There are quite a few languages I would like to learn. Outside of the ones I'm already fluent in that is Swedish and English there are primarily two languages I want to learn. Namely:

Arabic

I'm half Egyptian so it feels like a language I should know and it's also one that would be very cool to know in helping understand arabic culture. It would also be fairly useful to me personally considering my city has a large arab community and some people living here speak it pretty much exclusively.

Japanese

I've always been interested in Japanese culture and read a lot about it. Learning the language I think would certainly help with understanding that and I think it in general is a fascinating language. I would also like to go to Japan some time in my lifetime and knowing Japanese would when doing so would be very cool. I am going to start taking introductory classes starting my next semester though so that should be interesting and might actually bring me a bit closer towards this.

French

This is less a language I want to learn out of interest and more because I've spent 5 years studying it. I still feel somewhat awful at it even if I've attained a certain level of knowledge. It feels like conquering it would basically be succeeding in a personal challenge as it's a subject I've struggled a lot with in school. Right now however I'm dropping it in favor of Japanese

Spanish

I couldn't care less about learning Japanese, but I need to for my game making, just in case I ever need it. Plus it opens up some important opportunities. I'll learn it but not because I want to.

Irish Gaelic because I'm Irish by blood and am fascinated with my heritage.

Spanish because it's so useful and so many people around where I live speak it.


I doubt I'll get a chance to really mess with learning Hebrew or Greek, so I'll be more practical than to focus on those two.

I would absolutely looove to learn German and Japanese. Maybe greek because of my obsession with greek mytthology.

The reason I want to learn German because the main part of ethnic background is german. I have tried to learn it before, but that didn't go over very well considering I apparently cannot learn another language that easily. I have tried learning Spanish twice, french twice and German twice, and I could still never be able to tell you what means what.

Japanese because I would love to move/live there one day. I like their culture.
