If I had to pick a single PS2 title, it would be tied between Resident Evil 4 (even though it's a GameCube port), and the first three Devil May Cry games.

I think I played through RE4 about 15+ times just on the PS2, and that's not even counting the 10+ times I played through it on the GameCube lol. I think I ranted about the game enough in a couple of other threads about Resident Evil already though

The Devil May Cry games are awesome. They have a similar style to games like God of War or the newer Castlevania titles. I just really loved the overall presentation of the games, as well as the main protagonist just being plain awesome. To be fair, number 2 is easily the worst of the franchise, but 1 and 3 are definitely gems in my opinion ^^

Mynamescox44 : I can see why you would, and I also had a feeling if you were to post in this thread those two games you would mention. I mean I would too. As a matter of fact....I have devil may cry 3, and I do plan on getting RE4 very soon to replay what I have forgotten. I'm pretty happy with how long my ps2 has lasted for. While most ps2 slims would had stopped working and all mine has kept going for years, and since I don't really play other consoles it does it justice for me. I am at least happy with playing the one I want without like having to get a new one as of yet until it is the right time to do so.

I can't pick just one. :3 lol

•Genji: Dawn of the Samurai. Amazing action RPG that pushed the PS2 to insane limits. Like I had no idea the PS2 could look that amazing. It rivals PS3, and in some scenes could pass for PS4! Besides the technical marvel it is, this game is just loads of fun. It does have a lot of blood though, so be warned.

•Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland. A very unconventional Harvest Moon game, StH is a blast and quite refreshing for a follower of the series. Also the music that plays on your farm during the Summer is literally so beautiful I cried when I first heard it. And the art style is awesome. Very animé.

•Winback. Technically it's an N64 game that was ported to PSX and then to PS2. If you can get past the absolutely horrific voice acting, it's an addictive little cover based shooter, and actually the first of it's kind I believe.

•The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. Amazing game with a beautiful story that's an allegory of the story of Jesus Christ. Great gameplay as well.

I could list more, but that's enough for now.

zanderlex : Thanks for mentioning that game! I've never heard of it, but you had me at City Building. The rest was just icing on the cake.

Eirinn : I said you can choose a few so your list is fine you have a good list there and ones I haven't played. I don't think I would play any games on your list though but, only one kind of sounds interesting to me. If you want you can like list more. I don't have any restrictions on this thread to limit any list. So if you really would like to list more ps2 games go ahead. Its for people to find ps2 games they may have not come across or something that may come to interest them to try and start to play.

Honestly I love all of my PS2 games, it's my favorite console! But here are the few off the top of my head that I could play over and over no matter what:

The Xenosaga series

OKAGE Shadow King

Ookami

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time

Kuon

Dark Cloud/Dark Cloud 2

Inuyasha: Secret of the Cursed Mask

Persona 4

These are some of my most favorites. I don't think I could ever get bored of them.

Gothika : That's a very nice selection you have got down there. I have only played one from your list the others rather do look interesting to play so I guess when I have the time to take a look at them. I doubt you would ever get bored of these games since you would love to keep on playing them over.

Oh my...where do I even start with PS2 games? Heck, they were ALL awesome! XD

But I suppose if I had to pick a top 5, here's what games I would give an honorable mention ( but again, never played a "bad" PS2 game ). And also, I'm sort of a big sports guy and I know a lot of people are really "bored" with sports games, so I won't mention any of them.

5. Dragon Ball Z Budokai - just another game series where the first one was the best lol I really liked watching the cut scenes when you were playing the story mode. It felt like I was genuinely watching an episode. I thought the graphics were really well done. Its also probably my favorite fighting game not named "Tekken" ever. Budokai 2 was also pretty good, but not near as good as the first one.

4. God of War - my brother actually introduced me to this game. Before I played it I kept hearing about it but I didn't really have any interest in it. But eventually I tried it out, and I instantly regretted that I had ignored it for so long. The gameplay was a little different for me at first, but it was cool after I got used to it. This game kind of reminded me of Devil May Cry ( which was probably going to be #6 on this list ) as far as gameplay goes.

3. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - this was the first GTA game I ever played. And again, I was immediately hooked. Its also probably my favorite GTA game ever, although I'd give GTA 4 a VERY close 2nd to that. The graphics were a little weird for me at first but if you go to the options and change the filter to "No Trails," it completely changed the graphics and made it look so much better for me, as well as my experience with it. If you're big on GTA, I urge you to give this game a shot especially if you have a PS4. Its available through the Playstation Store.

2. The Matrix: Path of Neo - I might be a little bit biased here, since The Matrix is my all time favorite series of movies. First I played the game Enter the Matrix, which didn't even include Neo ( with only a couple mentions of his name ) but it was still a playable game, in my opinion. But the Path of Neo is a somewhat similar game that's been given a huge kick in the butt and a shot of steroids lol This game blew my mind because of the moves you could perform on it. Its a really cool game to play, but its also really complicated to try and get the hang of everything.

1. Gran Turismo 3: A Spec - definitely...not even close. I'm a BIG Gran Turismo fan obviously, and I would play this game forever if I could. My favorite part of this game ( which might seem a little bit lame lol ) was the fact that it tracked each one of your car's miles. While you're racing, you could see the odometer in the corner. I thought that was really interesting since it was something the first 2 Gran Turismo games didn't have. The graphics were WAY different, in a good way, than 1 and 2 and the soundtrack even turned my head as well. All around the best racing game ( and franchise ) EVER! 'Nuff said XD

So yeah, there's my list. Thanks for reading if you read the whole thing

MattyIce : You have some pretty nice list there. I have only played one of them from the list and that's GTA vice city great time that is. Anyways the others kinda do sound good to play. But it may not be my type since I normally look it up first to see if its a ps2 game I would be willing to try and play.

That's a hard question. The PS2 is probably my favourite system, so there's a lot of games on there I really like. To name a couple, here goes:

Freedom Fighters - A simple, yet effective squad shooter. The game takes place in New York City. Russia invades America, and as a NY resident, you form your own liberation army and drive back the Russians one mission at a time. It's a shame nobody really talks about this one.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - I cannot list my favourite PS2 games (or fav video games in general) without talking about GTA. I think I love all three of the main GTAs equally, so I'll just mention Vice City here for the heck of it. Vice City is an epic power fantasy where in the end you get your whole own crime imperium. It's Saints Row, but a lot more serious.

ICO - I could've just as well put Shadow Of The Colossus on here, but since I don't actually own that one (yet) and it's been way too long to accurately remember how I liked it, I figured I put its older brother on here, ICO. The entire game is one big escort mission, but a great one at that. 10/10 would escort again.

Kingdom Hearts II - The first Kingdom Hearts didn't age well imo, but the sequel aged like fine wine. It still looks amazing and plays like a charm. There's so much going on on your screen but you'll never feel overwhelmed by everything that happens. Plus, I'm a sucker for Disney, haha.

Peter Jackson's King Kong - King Kong is one of those rare movie licensed video games  that are REALLY good. You get to play as man and as Kong in this game. As Kong, it becomes an awesome dinosaur slayer and as man it becomes the Jurassic Park game that every fan always wanted. It can also be pretty damn scary at times, too. Who would have thought!

Spider-Man 2 - Look, another game that's set in New York. Really though, this game is awesome. Spider-Man 2 is another one of the rare movie licensed games that are really good. You actually get to BE Spider-Man as you swoop through New York, busting criminals, and... Well, mainly that, since that is about the only thing that the game does really good. But that alone is so good that it is one of my favourite PS2 games ever.

My favourite all time game would have to be any of the residents evils that ever came out, though the main one that has a special place in my heart is resident evil 2 mainly because it was the first game I had ever played and absolutely loved it,despite being too young to even be allowed to play the game, but hey i'm still alright ain't no zombies in a video game gonna change my life from what I am now, which is just a gamer and a massive fan boy over the resident evil series. lmao Despite the resident evil series I guess I would have to add the Sims 2 in to the area as well, because I put a ton of hours in to every single one of those games when I was little and I still play them to this day.

RunDST : Nice list you got there. I have played 2 on your list but haven't played the others. They kind of seem interesting to play so I might have to look them up. Just to see if I would actually play them or not. I always like seeing people post here with games, that are not known so much. So it gives other people options to try out the game for themselves.

SaberToothWolf : I think resident evil did have some very good games on the ps2. I've never been a big fan of the Sims because of how the gameplay is so that's why I don't really play an then sims game. ^^

My favorite game on the PS2 is probably the original star wars battlefront. I just really enjoyed that game and always had fun playing it

Beastmode64 : Yeah I remember you saying about this game in another thread by mentioning it. But, I can't remember which one it is. Its really good that you enjoyed it I don't think it would really be my type of game to play though. ^-^

The only PS2 games I had were all sports games.

NBA Live '08 : This was the first game I ever got for my first ever console. I had a blast playing this game, and I still occasionally go back anf play it for the nostalgia. The music is great and the gameplay is pretty good. The only drawback is the graphics, but you can't really criticize the gamemakers since the game is like 10 years old, lol.

Madden '08 : This was the second game I got for the PS2. The music in this game wasn't quite as good as NBA Live '08, but nevertheless, the game was still really fun. I had fun destroying teams and constantly winning Super Bowls . I would actually throw games on purpose and start the season like 0-5 and see if I could still make it to the playoffs and win the Super Bowl.

NASCAR '09 : This was the third game I got for this console. This was a pretty decent game, but I wouldn't really put it on the same level as the previous two I mentioned. It was fun at the beginning, but it kind of got boring after a while.

RDay13 : Oh....those ones. I have seen them, but I don't really play them since they are not in my genre of games to play. I can tell you enjoyed playing them or do you still play them? I can't remember if you said you do. @.@

Well, my favorite ps2 childhood games are...

Spongebob the movie-
Spongebob The Battle for Bikini Bottom-

I love platformers and the gameplay is just so good. Nice controls, decent graphics, good back ground music, and so much to do. There is surfing, driving, missions... etc.

DBZ budokai tenkaichi 2-

Used to play multiplayer with my sisters. Very challenging and it's like the show.

Sonic mega collection plus-

All of my favorite sonic games for the sega genesis in one cd! On a big TV screen!

That's all I can remember at the moment. I have played those games a lot and they're so fun to play again. Good times.

I don't have a PS2 actually, but the same games (pretty much) were released for the Gamecube (which I have).

My favorites would be the following-
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto Vice City
Grand Theft Auto III
Half Life
Need for Speed Underground
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
NASCAR Thunder 2004
NASCAR Dirt to Daytona

Barathemos : Cool list! And I have played some of the games on your list. Apart from half life guitar hero and NASCAR games as well. These are the only ones I haven't played.
