What is the best apocalypse movie?

I'd say that Mad Max: Fury Road is the best movie featuring the apocalypse. I normally don't watch apocalyptic movies, but that one was actually really good, not only as a movie featuring the apolcalypse, but also as an action movie.

You actually liked Fury Road??? Don;t get me wrong, it was by no means a bad movie, but in comparison to the other Mad Max titles, it did not live up to the hype in the slightest, at least not to me. I would take Mel Gibson's portrayal of the character any day of the week over how they depicted him in the new film. I also didn't feel the story was all that great, though again I wouldn't exactly say it's bad either. I'm actually a fan of Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy, and just didn't really care for how they played the roles. I'm not saying they did a bad job or anything, I just didn't really care for the movie itself all around.

My favorite apocalyptic film off the top of my head would have to be I Am Legend. Will Smith is a great actor who did an amazing job in the movie. Also the one scene with his dog had me in tears. I wasn't too happy about how the movie ended, but overall it was an amazing story, and the characters in it were very compelling. 

Mynamescox44 : I agree with you on I Am Legend being a great movie. Not sure if it's my all time favorite apocalypse movie, I'd have to think more and return with a reply later, but I definitely enjoyed it. What I found bad about it besides the ending was the CGI. For the time it wasn't that bad but looking at it now, it doesn't look very realistic. Also this might just be because it's become kind of overdone since, but I'm starting to feel like having animal companions in movies/games who die is becoming a cheap way to make people emotional. 

It's also too bad that I find a lot of Will Smith's more recent performances... Not too stellar. Don't even get me started on After Earth which can also be considered an apocalypse movie. That movie was a poorly executed mess.

Either fury road, or Independence day 2, if you count that as an apocalyptic movie.

Well, I don't know if Armageddon counts as an apocalypse movie, but that one had me in tears by the end so it is among one of my favorite movies. If that one really doesn't count, then I agree that I Am Legend is a pretty good one as well. I don't tend to like any apocalypse movies about zombies and supernatural stuff, but I would make an exception for that one.
