I'm not that much of a dadrock fan but I was in the past, and I know that this would be shocking news to a lot of the people here that listen to the music of both Guns N Roses and AC/DC.

Brian Johnson, the singer of AC/DC, known for his raspy voice and blood pumping vocals, has been suffering hearing loss and has decided to retire after many years of suffering. He's not the first member to have left the band, following backup vocal and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young's departure two years ago due to dementia, and after his arrest for ordering a hitman and possession of meth, drummer Phil Rudd is spending his time behind bars instead of performing. This leaves lead guitarist Angus Young as the only member left.

His departure was a shock, mostly to the band, who were in the middle of a tour with him as he made his announcement, but simultaneously, the announcement came with the news that Guns N Roses singer Axl Rose, who is starting a reunion tour for the original Guns N Roses lineup later this year, will be helping the band out and performing the remainder of AC/DC's final tour dates in Johnson's place.

Hearing two worlds collide in such a way is cool if you're a fan of them, and despite Axl's notoriety as an awful human being, it was definitely unexpected of him to help them out.

What do you think of this? Does it come off as a shock to you?

Here's a full concert of Axl Rose performing with AC/DC with a broken leg:

I knew about the other two, but I had no idea about Phil getting hooked on meth or ordering a hitman... That just messed up on so many levels...

I'm gonna be honest, when I heard that Axl was going to take over, I thought it was a horrible idea and that it was going to be a disaster. To my surprise, he not only pulled it off, but he nailed it. I never thought much of Axl's singing style, but when he does what Brian did, it just works.

What is dadrock lol, is that meaning it's old music? I never heard of that until I just read your post. I used to listen to Guns n roses when I was growing up... maybe a little ac/dc too.

...

Axl is notorious for being an awful human being? Same can be said about Brian Johnson

tRIUNE : To be fair, Brian Johnson never walked off stage, or jump into the crowd and punch someone like Axl did, but Axl had reasons at least 1/2 the time to leave the stage, when people were throwing stuff at the band, one time hitting Duff in the head with a bottle of piss. Although nowadays people still think Axl is a POS but he's changed, for the good too, which is always a plus.

As for Axl/DC. I think it's great. It worked out very well, but I think Brian might be back, there was a guy that had this hearing device that can protect his hearing, and allow him to perform. I know Axl is gonna do the dates with AC/DC later this year. Although with Cliff Williams retiring maybe it's time for AC/DC to call it a career.

As for the "Dad Rock" term, a lot of younger people use it. Mostly those old people obsessed with old rock/metal, and that's all they talk about, and are real ignorant. Kinda like metal elitists. Personally I am a huge fan of AC/DC, they were the first rock band I ever heard, and I am only 28. I am also a big fan of Guns N Roses too, but I also like many other bands, especially metal bands that not many have heard of.
