I have one question: Is there a specific file type that only works, or will any type work? I tried to play Fire Red from my ROM download off of Romulation, and also tried using the download link from the website, but neither of them seemed to work.

jokool : I just went to RomUlation and downloaded the same file. Using a download link in the URL bar doesn't work, it has to be a direct link to the file. The ROM you downloaded was archived as a .7z. What you have to do is extract the file, then re-compress the ROM as a .zip. Frome here, you can either upload to puush or imgur and use the direct link in the URL bar, or move the archive to the Vizzed downloads folder in Program Data. If you need any help finding it, send me a PM.

David you're the best! I died a little inside when I lost that Sacred Stones file, and now I've got it right back! Thank you so much! You're a genius! Like seriously, the programming the site, finding out how to skirt the law, and even putting in all of that! I'm proud of you, seriously. Good work man, you kept this thing going, and you're doing a darn good job of it.

Now, I don't understand the whole traffic and ads thing, but does more traffic mean that you can get more money for people putting ads on vizzed which means lower fees, and how would we generate more traffic for Vizzed? Would just sitting idle do it, or maybe posting more? I'm just wondering is all. I'm going to try and get a Pay-Pal to donate soon, you can do that right?

Seems that this error message happens on all games, even the ones which weren't taken down or the ones which are still on the site.

Mirazz : I'm able to play Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones just fine. I'm using the choose file option, are you sure you're selecting the actual game file for the ROM, or maybe one that looks like it?

The download page says what the file should look like. I hope this helps.

I've updated this page to show a list of your last 10 played games. All of these links are clickable and it'll load the game in the exact way that you previously loaded the games. So if you manually loaded a game that is no longer available in the RGR, instead of having to manually load it again, simply click it from the list.

It'll also offer a link to up 1 custom "not found" game. This is basically a game that the site couldn't find in the database and the link for that will be titled 'Play Custom Game Not Found in the Database'. Any time you play a new custom "not found" game, that link will update to the last "not found" game you played.

Also, I've also added some MESS fields that will allow staff to mess around with various MESS supported systems to potentially get added to the RGR. I'll eventually make a detailed thread on how this works.

Anyways, thank you all for the kind responses and support

starwars293 : Eventually I'll expand it to allow netplay. It wouldn't be possible for this to support handheld netplay.

Surgiac : It depends on the game and system. Most likely it'd require an RGR Plugin to get more systems added.

The external link is pretty simple. Simply paste in a direct download link to a rom file.

Lycan212 : Refer to what I said to Surgiac.

m0ssb3rg935 : Yeah it'd be awesome to get systems like that added to the RGR Plugin and allow users to play them with that page. It takes away all legal concerns.

Supergamer : I can't think of any restrictions off the top of my head.

tornadocam : The point is to manually load the games yourself.

Halolimnic : The files are already on your computer for any game that you've already played on Vizzed. As for the URLs, you'll have to search the internet for those yourself.

Steffenfield : It's not possible for that browse button to default to that location.

Jordanv78 : I definitely plan to add netplay support eventually

bbruceify : It currently only supports .zip archives or the rom file by itself.

jokool : Refer to what I said to bbruceify.

sandstorm57102 : Maybe I'll do a video tutorial later this week.

Titan127 : Most of the site's revenue is from ad views. The ad revenue is what helps pay for all of the site expenses such as server fees, RGR Plugin and also allows me to work on the site full time.

Are you guys still getting the error message? If so, can you provide me with more details?

Davideo7 : I'm getting the error message as well. It looks like it's isolated to specific emulators. FCEUX, ZSNES and Mednafen are working but VBA, 1964 and Mupen64Plus get the error. At least, those are the ones that I've tested. I've Literally never gotten anything to load or play in MESS.

N64 games aren't working for me. I've tested the following: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Goldeneye 007. Every other console is working, but N64 isn't. This is what happens when I try to load a game that's for N64 http://puu.sh/nQuuQ/9e793037e5.jpg

theweapon2 : "C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginDownloads" is the directory where all the games you've previously downloaded from Vizzed are stored. The reason you can't find it's a hidden folder.

When you go to browse for the ROM you want to play, simply copy that file path into the bar in the top of the window and it'll take you to where all the archived games are. Afterward, select the system the game is for from the drop-down menu and select which emulator you wish to use and press submit. Using the URL bar works in the same way except that, instead of loading a ROM that's already on your computer, you copy a direct link to a ROM hosted on the Internet. Note that download links will not work. It absolutely has to be a direct link to the file. Alternately, if you'd like to use an off-site ROM but can't find a direct link, download it, make sure it's archived as a .zip file (extracting and re-compressing, if needed) and place in the Vizzed downloads directory.

sandstorm57102 : See the instructions above.

m0ssb3rg935 : I figured it out a few minutes ago but thanks for telling me, that URL bar thing you were talking about, is there any way you can show me a example? it'd really help me understand the second option a bit more if you can, that would help me much, thanks

Well, when I try external links, I get one of two results. It will either start attempting to download & hang at 0% or it will say the download is corrupt. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

From what I gather, there's a difference between the direct URL to the file and a download link. Notice the difference between the following URLs.

http://prntscr.com/aiu4x3   <=== This is a direct URL to the uploaded file. Note the file extension.

http://prntscr.com/aiu5gz   <=== This is a mirror download link. Note the lack of a file extension.

The unfortunate thing about it though, is that, save uploading a ROM to puush to use as an example, I have found no sites with direct URLs to the files. You're really better off downloading the ROM from whatever site, making it a .zip if it isn't and putting it into the Vizzed Downloads directory since it's just going to download it to that location using the URL you provided anyway. It really only automates the process.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
