I have to echo what some other people have said. What vizzed has been doing in terms of the RGR  at least is illegal and I am suprised more direct action hasn't been taken earlier against it, that's not really a matter of opinion that's just how it is. A lot of these games are being re sold digitally by Nintendo and even if they do not chose to do so they still own the rights to it. Which similarly applies to hacks since it uses something that they have the copyright to as the basis for the game even if it has been modified.

Now I personally think a "boycott" of Nintendo is pointless and if anything counter productive. If anything it might just bring more attention to the site and essentially encourage Nintendo to try and get it shut down in the extremely unlikely event it grew big enough for them to notice. Frankly if Nintendo wanted to do so they could've taken legal action against the site directly in stead of notifying David, and I'm fairly certain any other major retro gaming company that stumbled across Vizzed and figured out what's going on would act similarly.

That said, I know David is working on and have even implemented alternatives to hopefully repair the damage this could cause to the site revenue so I'm hoping that works out for the best. If anyone does want to help I suggest donating to the site if you can and if you can't try getting involved in the non RGR aspects of the site in stead.

geeogree : Well no, I mean like permission from Nintendo to use the games they had us remove. The whole legal thing was there was no permission given. So maybe if we had permission to use the works, it would then be okay to continue as before?

Darthdaishi : Well, think about it. They most likely wouldn't have gotten a lawyer involved if they were going to give him permission.... I don't think "pretty please with teriyaki on top" is going to cut it. lol

Darthdaishi : Don't get the wrong idea, it's not like I'm making fun or anything, I'm just saying that we're talking about a business, not a charity. Businesses make money,  not do favors. Not saying it's right for everything to be a money grab, and not saying it's wrong to profit from intellectual property. It's kinduh just the way things are. Would be really cool if it was as simple as just asking, though.

Hmmm... If only there were a way to have a thread... a SUPER thread... where folks could upload game links to games that disappeared, so that other folks could still play those games.

thing is nobody wants listen to me they want to complain about how Nintendo ruined there lifes lol  :p  SUPER thread... where folks could upload game links to games that disappeared  .....Its called ROM site   without Viz player   i would move the server  get rid Viz player   an turn this site into a ROM site what alot people dont know is that when play game at vizzed the ROM downloads automatically  to HD  so when offline you can play the games on your PC in your emulators    someone on here told me i dont think Davideo7 would like people downloading ROMs  plus theres other website that are better for that  ....  i said no once play game its on HD  told him  vizzed is best site to play an to download ROMs  period ....already pre-patched   these no other site that can compete id have say Davideo7 is real deal web programmer  I myself can sick any ROM on a game cart

Wow! This take me by surprise. I've been out by a week and when I came back found this situation. I haven't seen the game list yet but 2000 games are a lot.

I hope this situation gets better.

i've found other emulators to play Nintendo games, even got a Gamecube emulator to work, but this still bites because Vizzed is easy to set up and use.

why couldn't Nintendo at least leave behind games that aren't on the Virtual Console as well as fan translations of games that were never localized. i don't know Japanese and i will probably never learn it but i f*cking love Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War and Fire Emblem Binding Blade.

Nintendo even took down fan made games based on Nintendo IP.

Second, sorry about the Nintendo hairball mess.

Third, as maybe a solution, I noticed that a few versions of "Mario" Nintendo games that were removed from the Nintendo system are still available on other systems, like the Sega Genesis, Turbo Graphx, MAME, etc.

So, since those games are still allowed to be played on Vizzed, I guess because they're being played on another system's emulator, why can't we just find a way to shoehorn all the games that were eliminated onto another system emulator, like the Genesis?

In other words, can't a popular Pokemon homebrew/hack just somehow be coded to run on the Genesis emulator, on Vizzed?

Honestly, I knew this day would come eventually... Hopefully you can get through this though! I love this sight and I would hate to see it go under.
In a way, things might be all right. Clearing away the clutter of games with licensed characters could allow some of the great but less popular games to shine.
I do have an idea that could attract some people. You could open up a section of the forum for RPing (obviously monitored so things don't get nasty). Doing this COULD help offset the loss of people from losing the Nintendo games. Possibly. Like I said, just an idea.

ADd_n_M : We have been discussing doing something like this, by this I mean hosting competitions to raise awareness of lesser known games that were overlooked and hopefully find some great hidden gems. :3
