Hello, all! The name's Joneithevius, Jonei for short if you want, and I'm a long time lover of retro games! You can't imagine the utter joy I had discovering that this site existed! Being able to play all the retro games I want without burdening my computer or wasting precious physical space or too much money! Plus the variety... At first I expected it'd only feature big-name titles, but it features pretty much everything available across the board so I can enjoy unheard-of titles as well! Truly a paradise for a retro gamer. As such, I want to help this site as much as I can!

I'm going to contribute as much as I can, of course, mainly through reviews, as I enjoy reviewing games but never quite found the right place to do so. Though I'll have to note that I'm partially deaf, so uh... my review on audio may be inaccurate and underwhelming. Sorry! I'll try to be much more thorough with the other areas to make up for it though.

My top goals on this site is to unlock everything, spread this site and get it much more attention (the honest way, of course), and... to become a staff. Oh, not because of power trips or to gain control or anything, it's simply because I want to be able to further help complete the library of games and update the hacks, and I saw that only staff can do that. Honestly, I probably wouldn't be a good moderator, but I'd love to be a librarian and help with the stock.

I don't mind waiting until I've proven myself, or if I never do, just provide the material and links for the staff if I can! (Are suggestion threads/forums a thing?)

So... yeah. Hello! Questions, suggestions, or the like for this newbie?

Hi Jonei, welcome to Vizzed! What kind of RGR games do you like? I am a huge Pokémon fan, I like Mario, Sonic is OK, but not a big fan of the other RGR games. I think you can either Private Message a Staff member, or you can make a thread in the RGR forum. I am not 100% sure on the RGR forum thing, but a more experienced or higher-up user than me can confirm if that is the right place to post RGR suggestions. I hope you enjoy your time on Vizzed!

RDay13 :

I like Pokémon too, but meh on Mario and Sonic. I love a huge variety of RPGs though, particularly the Mother series, Seiken Densetsu 3, Legend of Dragoon, Shining Force 1 and 2, and... the Megaman Battle Network series. (Don't judge.) In fact, I'm willing to try just about every RPG, with varying impression.

Now I'm on here, however, I plan to explore and try out a large variety of games to find many undiscovered gems I've never played before because who knows, I might end up loving a game that most other people don't usually enjoy. That's the fun of a retro treasure hoard! Just playing only one or two games on Vizzed is a waste of the potential this site provides!

Welcome to the site!

It's really nice to hear you want to contribute right after joining. Many people is doing reviews, so anyone can join the bandwagon anytime. Even if you're partially deaf, I'm sure you will make great reviews, simply because you feel very motivated for it and willing to work hard.

Speaking of working hard, you should get the hang of the site quickly, because in May/June we will (probably) have staff apps open with a few Game Reviewer spots to fill. I've seen people apply and get the position while still being fairly new, all that matters to be chosen is that you make a good work.

We do have a thread dedicated to missing games in the RGR, if you see we're missing some report them here: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=35277

I hope you enjoy your stay with us, and I'm impatient to see some of your reviews! For any further questions, feel free to PM me or the staff, we're always glad to lend a hand.

Joneithevius : "the Megaman Battle Network series (don't judge)".  That, for a time, was my favorite series.  I loved the battle system and the setting.  I've owned 3 games in the series, but have probably played all of them at one time or another.  Keep in mind that here on Vizzed there may currently be no known way to "100%" either version of Battle Network 3, since you have to have certain chips from the opposite version in order to fight the Omega Navis.  This is fixed in the Wii U version, but I've heard some users have experienced input delay playing the game.  I'm not sure whether this is a problem across the board, an isolated issue, or just an imagined problem.

Joneithevius : welcome to the site and I'm sorryz I wasn't the first to post to you I'm not one of the higher ups but I am one of the nice and coolz people you will meet on the site if your playing a pokemon game and see me playing it too feel free to say hi to me because I generally stick to myself unless spoken to first because I don't want to interfere with another persons game play by saying hi to them since most would rather play the game without speaking ... I will be very talkative after you say hi and if I'm further in the game I might even give you a heads up on what lies ahead but I promise not to ruin the whole game I'll even add you as a friend so I'll know when your online and what game your playing ... to add me as a friend back just go to your notifications and click add this person

granted most of what I play are hack versions of original games but trust me the ones I play are very good and in my opinion should be made into real life games though some of the difficultly might have to be adjusted if they make it a real life game but I'd buy it the second it the game came out for sure ^^

I see all of your questions and everything are already answered, so pretty much the only thing I can do is make you feel welcome, so welcome to Vizzed. Your detail on your introduction is pretty detailed and professional. I give you props for this!

Also, interesting preferences, I see you have. May I suggest you try out the Fire Emblem games? I find them quite interesting, honestly. You also might like the Chrono Trigger game. I find it decent, but most of the people I talk to in real life that have accounts on here prefer it over a lot of other RPG's that
I like more.

But, you've not told too much about yourself, other than your favorite games. I am referring to aspects such as hobbies (other than gaming), how you found the site, and real-life gaming-related things. For instance, consoles you have/had, the first game/console you've ever played or have had, and things like that.

Information about you aside, welcome to Vizzed!

Finally! The reply box has been glitching out all day thanks to my slow wi-fi, only now does it work!

EX Palen :
Oh thank you! I'm still a bit concerned since it seems like a lot of people put a lot of value on the audio quality... Though they can check the other reviews for that, while I can provide further content and detail in other areas, perhaps?

Ooh, sounds too good to be true! Especially as May's my birthday, haha. Well, still, I'll try my best, and even if I fail, that gives me more time to work and study up, no? Also, thank you, I'll bookmark that link for future reference, I already have a few games in mind I'll bring up... well, once the wi-fi stops acting up.

I might take a bit, as I always try to play near to 100% before I review! After all, it might change in quality late game or have a lame ending, even on the longer games. If you only review on a partial play, you might be doing false advertising, after all.

supernerd117 :

(Let's see if multi-replying works here...)

Oh, nice! I owned 1 to 5 at varying points myself, rommed 6, and loved them all! (Though 5's tactical gameplay was... annoying.) Bugger to hear about the issue with 3, but could that be fixed with Netplay compatibility, maybe? Have a couple of Megaman 3 players swap chips via a Netplay session if possible, like trading Pokémon.

Otherwise, I'll be looking into possible hacks that allow you to gain the chips without need for trading.

Also, what's an elite? Is it just having an exorbitant amount of points?

TheTrueUlti:

Pff, had to edit in this reply since you posted just before I posted... Thanks for the compliments!

I hate the Fire Emblem games, actually... The character designs are all dreadfully bland (barely any variety), and so is the story. It's basically only the gameplay with nothing genuinely interesting to keep you drawn in. The recent Fire Emblem games only got popular because of the added dating sim features, ha! I love the genre, yes, but Fire Emblem is a subpar example of it in my opinion. I recommend trying out the Disgaea or Shining Force series for a nice comparison, though they don't have the permadeath difficulty.

Despite my distaste of Akira Toriyama's art (no offense), I did quite enjoy Chrono Trigger. It's on my to-do list to review on here, in fact.

The only consoles I own now is the PC and 3DS, sadly. I used to own the GBA, N64, both playstations, Gamecube, and Wii. I uh... had to get rid of them all due to financial trouble. One reason why I developed a love for emulators! Until now, I stuck mainly to games I previously owned so I wouldn't be too guilty, though.

The first ever console would be the Gameboy. Pokemon Red~ I remember being disappointed because I wanted Blue, ha. Favorite color.

Joneithevius : Sorry, I didn't mean Fire Emblem. I meant Dragon Ball Z. I was thinking of when I was playing Super Smash Bros. Melee when I was typing, and thought of a character from Fire Emblem on there, causing me to accidentally type "Fire Emblem".

I despised Fire Emblem, honestly, recent and all. But, yeah, I meant Dragon Ball. This always happens when I am typing.

You ever played a Dragon Ball Z game, though? I highly recommend the Legacy of Goku series for GBA. Legacy of Goku, Legacy of Goku II, and Buu's Fury are all included within the LoG series.

It is RPG-style, without the constant screen-changing to initiate a battle.

Are you sure? That sounds a lot like an excuse to me~ Nah, it happens to me a lot too. Got to hate that.

Well, I don't like Dragon Ball Z outside of Gohan's arc (as it was the only time it wasn't mostly about men screaming and punching each others XD), but I think I've actually played Legacy of Goku once out of boredom and curiosity. Didn't one of those games involve Mr. Satan with a hilariously OP special? The photo flash that stunned and damaged every single enemy on the screen. Made his story (with the exception of certain puzzle events) ridiculously easy. If that's the series you're speaking of, then yes, I actually did enjoy those games! They were pretty fun, what with all the side-quests and finding all the items and power-ups. I didn't know there was a third game, I should check it out sometimes!

They were pretty fun, what with all the side-quests and finding all the items and power-ups. I didn't know there was a third game, I should check it out sometimes!

Joneithevius : I likely just recommended Dragon Ball Z because I am obsessed with it. Yeah, I grew up playing it for the PS2 and watch every episode and movie possible. Just a complete addiction of mine. So excuse me if I am constantly talking of Dragon Ball Z, as it has become quite a habit for me.

Well, good thing is that you know one more thing about me. Good luck with learning of others and befriending them, as well.

Oh, and no, you can't play as Hercule (aka Mr. Satan) in any of them as I recall....

Vanelan :

I'm currently playing Final Fantasy V Advance. The Custom Classes mod in particular. Loving it so far, definitely going to be reviewing it rather positively! Though at the moment I'm just grinding my jobs ha ha. After that, Riviera then the Battle Network series unless a different mood strikes me. Why, were you hoping to see more reviews for a game in particular?

Being completely honest, I don't give a damn about audio. I only care for in-game sounds, I usually turn the background music off if I have the chance and turn it on simply for reviewing purposes.

I've seen people covering other fields besides the ones you're given to rate, so you could also do that. Personally, as long as you cover depth, difficulty and addictiveness you're fine to go, as those are the really important parameters and what really gets you into playing the game.

I myself applied for staff when I had almost no clue about the site, I was just motivated to work and willing to tackle numerous projects. You have nothing to lose, after all, since you will have to show some of your reviews for the other members to consider if you're worthy of the position, and at the very least that will mean many people will read them and give feedback, which in turn will help you to improve.

If you become staff, you have a quota to make, but that quota can be fulfilled easily with one review if it's of enough length, like the ones I've made, so it won't be a problem if you take your time.

Really looking forward to your reviews and give feedback, I hope you finish them soon!

Joneithevius : "Elite" means I had a staff position, and was considered to have done a good enough job to keep certain benefits.  iirc, there is no Netplay compatibility currently for GBA.  I haven't used the RGR Plugin in a long time, though, so you might want to look that up.  It may have changed.  As for Battle Network 5, the tactical gameplay was actually my favorite part about it haha  Also, there aren't a lot of hacks out for the MMBN series.  There are a few people that have done some hacks, but for some of the games in the series, they may be relatively or completely nonexistent.  Do you know about Megaman Chrono X?  It's an ongoing (and the most extensive) hack in MMBN history.  It's meant to be a continuation of the Battle Network series.  It is not yet complete, but a lot of progress has been made.

EX Palen :
I actually enjoy having the BGM on. At least if it's somewhat good, sometimes the music is grating, like FF5's battle music... It sounds like static to me, but then that could be my damaged hearing, lol. My plan is to stick to the user average, but rate slightly above if I end up really enjoy it, or slightly below if it's annoying enough to make me ditch the headphones.

Hoo boy, do I plan to cover those areas! Already got some notes on addictiveness for this game. I have no worries about quota since I'm unemployed (disability), and the only thing I really do those days is hit the gym and go shopping.

supernerd117 :

I looked, but all of the patches are to add new and fancy OP chips, not to fix that problem. Though there's one person who's notorious for his chip hacking skills, so perhaps if the net play is still out (I'll try to ask a staff about this if I can find one?), I can reach out to him and see if I can get him to make a simple romhack for both versions so that the needed chips are available in the opposite versions.

I'd enjoy it too if not for the turn restriction, which gets ridiculously limiting at times, and makes it more frustrating than fun.

I know of Chrono X, yes! Taking such a long time to make it though. But once they finish it, definitely going to see about having it added onto here as the unofficial 7th game.

Speaking of finished roms, one of my goals is to possibly moderate the hacks- especially the Pokémon ones- so that they keep updated to the latest version, and maybe see about removing the older, outdated versions that are taking up space. Lots of the Pokémon fan makes on here are still incomplete betas or of the wrong versions, tsk tsk.

0ddie :
Wow, why is my passionate arrival impressing everyone? XD Well, I certainly seek to help this site be worth visiting and get the attention it deserves!

Well, I considered the chat room, but decided to put it off when I saw it charges Viz. I need to save up so I can get that PSX item as quickly as I can. Can't review PlayStation games without it, you know! I might take a look see around the forum boards meanwhile though.

Joneithevius :  Guess who.    I hope you're enjoying yourself.  I am.  Well, sort of.  Mostly I'm confused, but that's how I always am when I'm in a new place.  I really like the slightly faux-90s aesthetic of this place.

Hello there and welcome to the site, I'm glad your here and if you want we can be friends because I like having friends. Just be sure to follow the rules and you will do fine. Also I really like RPG's as well so we at least have something in common, but here's my question...

Have you played Pokémon Mystery Dungeon?
