Usually whenever I make a thread, I only reply to the comments that are directed or intended for me in particular. There are a few exceptions, though. Such as I'm interested and curious about the comment. Or I feel the need something should be said about it. I feel pretty bad not replying to everyone's comments in my threads asking questions. To me, it's a lot worse than not saying anything at all. I would'nt want to have anyone thinking that I'm ignoring them or anything.

I normally reply to all that were constructive. I don't see the need to reply to simple replies that add almost nothing to the thread. Yes most of the time I try to reply. Because I want to interact with my viewers and let them know I read their comment. I also think its good manners. A few times I have not replied due to the daily struggles of life or if I know that person is a spammer.

If you were only replying to the people who replied to your post, then I don't think that would be rude since the others were replying in response to the threads topic instead. But that's just me. It would all have to depend on the situation.

Well I very rarely make threads anymore but I try and reply to people as I see fit. Not one of those people that replies to every. single. post. ever. because that's something that honestly bugs me when I see others do it lol.

Honestly, replying to every last thing comes off as spammy. I haven't made much threads, but a general rule of thumb for myself is to reply to bizarre or unique answers that warrant discussion, or just reply to things that refer to me themselves, like asking a question or asking for my opinion. It's a nice balance of interacting with the community and not post-farming.

When I make a thread it's usually because I want to listen to other people's opinion on a topic not reply to them but if they're really vague and I'm curious then I do reply to the comments. I then usually choose to agree or disagree with whoever replied to my thread to forge a new opinion on the topic at hand. So yes I do reply to my threads if I have to but it's not that often fortunately.

It depends on the thread I'm making. There are some threads I make that I'm less interested in having discussions with other users in the thread.

However, if I am interested in discussing my thread's topic with other users, I'll reply to their posts occasionally. Most of the time I don't have much to add so I just wait for more people to post.

When it is an "ask anything", then yes I will answer all the comments since it is directly addressed to be. Unless, of course, the question is completely off topic.

For reviews, I will usually reply back when the person brings forward a suggestion to improve my writing. Otherwise I just silently (and happily) accept the good comments.

But for "general" thread, I might answer if the answer is shocking or does not make sense. If it is in a political discussion, I will of course try to do it respectfully, although those discussions can easily become inflamed.

My most popular thread is a game where you must type a username with your eyes closed, hence the name 'Type the name above you with your eyes closed.' I think the only time that I usually respond to the comments is when the thread is not a question.
