What do you think of movie novelizations? I don't mean when movies are based on books, but when a movie comes out and the book based on the movie comes out later. I usually like books better this way than the other way around because even if I liked the movie, whoever is writing the book, ends up putting more than what was in the movie.

Recently, the novelization of The Force Awakens was released about a month after the movie, which is a perfect example.

Do you like these kinds of books?

zanderlex : Generally, I don't read them.  Maybe I should.  Perhaps the closest I've come to fully reading a movie novelization was when I got a comic book that came with Pokemon Pinball.  It was a full reprint of the first 6 episodes of the anime.  It was awesome.  It's probably worth a lot now, but I lost it.  I'm not even finding it online, actually.  Either way, I enjoyed reading it.

The last one I read was back in 3rd grade and it was a novelization of cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Needless to say, it sucked. However, I have been meaning to read The Curse of The Origami Yoda.... That counts, right?

Hm. See, really, for me, it depends on the book. For most of these that I've read, I'll take the move any day of the week, because the books, from my experience, are often short, poorly written, and generally low quality, even if we're not counting children's picture books that are around twenty pages long with pictures from the movie in them, these books always seem to me just like a way to make a quick buck or three for the author.

Of course, there are some that surpass the movies. Personally, my favorite example of this would be the Star Wars: Episode III, Revenge of the Sith book. It mainly focused on Anakin Skywalker, but it went way deeper into basically everything about the entire plot of the movie, despite how much I loved the movie. (It was my first Star Wars movie lol)

And in reverse, when movies are made from books, not once have I enjoyed the movie more, lol.
