Hi guys, its me again bringing you another weird topic to talk about. I know you are thinking uh we are not old just yet! But I dunno I felt I had to ask. When you have lived your life to the fullest. And you are now old and want to settle for retirement. What are your plans? Like golf? Or go and do peaceful things that wouldn't take up too much of your health? I think most old people would play golf in all honesty I don't know a lot of activities people would do in their retirement. Another thing could be spending time with the family. With their children and grandchildren. So do you guys have a ruff idea what your retirement would be?

By the time I'm 60 I will have hoped to save up quite a bit of money. With this money, upon retirement, I'd travel the world (assuming I already haven't) and once that's all done, I'd settle down somewhere distant but not remote.

I'm not really picky, or sure, about where exactly. I figure an island somewhere in the Southern Pacific will suffice. Assuming by 2060 Wi-Fi will be global there should be no problems!

I'm hoping to be somewhere south where it's warm, haha. But to be honest, I'm kinda unsure about retirement - when I was on vacation from work for 2 weeks in December I just about went nuts. Having so much free time, I was overwhelmed and instead of doing everything I wanted - I did nothing. So I'd definitely have to try keep busy and I'd probably end up volunteering - or working part-time.

I'll keep working and not retire tbh. I'm a working man and I plan to work throughout my life. Sure retirement sounds nice and all but I'm not the type to just settle down after hitting a certain point, I want to strive and continue on. Life might think another way to change my idea and if it does let it be, but I'm not at the point to even thinking about retirement anytime soon. Not even at my 60s will I consider the option.

Knowing me, I would probably be on the internet all day doing whatever, no matter how old I am. Either that, or I wouldn't want to retire, there's a chance that I would keep wanting to work for as long as I can.

When I turn 60 the retirement age will have gone up so I will still be working. Maybe when I am in my late 80's I have hopefully saved up enough to live a happy life. Not sure what i would do though.

Keep working, if that's possible for me. I can only foresee the already ridiculous cost of living where I live continuing to climb as I age. It's a shipping, business, and tourist city and has been for many decades so I doubt that I'll be able to retire even after years of savings unless I move out of this area. Besides, why would I want to stop working? It keeps my mind active, my skills practiced, and keeps money coming into my bank account.

I'm sure life will look quite different by the time I'm 60, and whatever I want to do now might not be what I want to do 31ish years from now.

I find it kinda humorous that you imagine most people would want to golf. haha. I think most people here (And definitely true of my generations and younger generations) find golf to be terribly boring.

I'd take care of my house and spoil my husband.  I'd spend as much time with my kids as they'd allow me to... and hopefully, I'd have grandkids to spoil more than Jason.  I'd love the extra time for all my hobbies. Crocheting, walking, reading, writing... maybe by then I'll have some imagination.  And if I'm fit enough?  I'll do all the outdoorsy things I don't have the time for now.  If I have money, I'll travel.  And if I'm poor, I'll smile at the world around me.

5 years can drastically change the way you see things and plan for your future let alone the 30 or so years I'd have until I reached retirement age, but as of right now I'd have to say that my plan is to have a farm that my grandchildren could come to and pick fresh vegetables from my garden.  I remember this was one of my fondest memories of my pa was visiting him on his farm and he would pull us around on his tractor and we would pick fresh vegetables from his garden to eat at supper.  I remember it was simple and good, and I've always felt that that's the way life should be so I'd want it to be that way someday when I'm old.

I'm honestly not entirely sure what I would want to do, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't wan tot just stop doing anything. I think I'd want to continue to work in a consultancy role and probably be quite out doors quite a bit, going and walks and staying active so going down the gym a couple of times a week.

I still see myself storm chasing. I know that might be crazy but I enjoy forecasting weather and storm chasing. So as long as I'm psychically able too I don't plan on quitting. I also see myself continuing to do what I do know and be an Autism Advocate

As someone has previously stated, five years can completely transform your entire perception of reality, let alone 30 years (40, for me). However, naive as I may be, I see myself never retiring. If I ever manage to achieve what I hope to, if I ever manage to be successful in my chosen career, I'll never stop, because it's more or less what I live for. I may change my mind in the future as I haven't the slightest idea what physically aging feels like, but I make no plans to ever stagnate.

tornadocam : You storm chase...??? You're not one of the famous guys on TV, are you?

I would totally retire once I was secure enough in my financial situation that I didn't need to work. That just means I would retire from my normal job. I would likely either write a book or volunteer for a charity or something like that. I don't think I could stand to have absolutely nothing to do all day.

Well, if Vizzed is still around maybe I would come back as and be staff again Who knows.

60 isn't that old, it's at the very least seven years younger than our age of retirement (might change by the time I become that old). Not to mention the fact that my generation, and probably a few previous ones as well, will have a very hard time retiring due to the enormous crisis we're currently undergoing and the fact that the young population is highly unemployed or earning an derisory amount of money.

Due to this, and how I am myself, I don't think I would retire as long as I'm physically and psychically able to keep going. If I have a single drop of motivation to keep doing my job, I'll continue to do it at my best.

Also, as geeo said, I would probably be here again helping out if this site still exists. After everything it has given me, and the things it can yet give me, I feel very attached to this place.

By the time I'm 60, I like to think I'd keep going. I'd retire from my full-time job, use the money I have to travel around the world, and then I'd finally come back to the US and just get a part-time job or something. I'd love to be a coach or maybe even a referee for some of local soccer leagues around the area, or if soccer dies down in the US, I'll go to Europe and do the same.

My family all live super close together, so I'm sure I'll be around to spend time with them. I really don't see myself having kids unless it's an "accident child." But one sister has two kids considering a third, and my other sister has one in the oven, so that's enough to deal with already in my opinion. I only hope they have Virtual Reality video games perfected or close to it by the time I retire so I can immerse myself in that kind of stuff to kill all my free time.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
