After being here for over a year I have finally given myself a profile image. I think that I actually did try to make a profile image but the thing never let me know that none of my images were uploading. A preview page or an error message would have been nice but ¯_ȌᴥȌ_/¯

I've changed mine probably about a little more often than you have, zander.   I tend to change it whenever I get bored of my profile background, because then I want my profile picture to match it.  I can't imagine ALWAYS keeping the same image... or even being known by my image, because I don't frequent any other forums.  In fact, the only other websites I typically visit are facebook (where 8 of 9 friends are family) and my email.

I'm really, really content with my current profile background though, so I can't imagine wanting to change it any time soon.  That means that the profile pic will likely be around for awhile.  It's nice and positive anyways, right?

If we're looking at a timeline then I'd average like once a year.
I had the electric ball for around a year and before that I had the law books for around 8 months.

I recently changed it again to fit my new profile layout since I was getting a bit bored of the default one. I'm probably going to stick to this one, though I might clean it up a bit since there's still some white bits that need to be removed.

I usually change it occasionally, mostly if it starting to feel old and/or feel like uploading a funny icon. I just updated it yesterday. On average, I usually updated once every 4 months. I've had this profile picture since the day I started posting on Vizzed. I changed it once, but only to make a point. I only left it like that for a few hours before changing it back.

I experimented and changed with my profiles look several years back; Profile picture and placing pictures in the text box, until I got into a tight spot where people began to complain that they couldnt see my text whenever I posted. I wouldve wanted to do something about this, but due to this one little loophole I feel into, (And I am uncertain if this holds true today) I had to do a bit of contacting and cleaning.

When one becomes a Trusted member and they are able to edit such things like the appearance of the text box, and THEN being placed back into a regular membership after enough negative impact, you are suddenly unable to edit such things. I had to contact David about this and be given enough time to fix things again.

This was also several years back mind you, so the picture I got now was about half that time ago.

For an estimate of how often I actually do change it, I would say maybe once every eighteen months. I only remember having two (this one and a screenshot of Mario after he sucked up way too much water in Superstar Saga), but I may have had others. Not sure.

Well I had never changed my profile picture until I came across this thread.  Now I've changed my layout and my profile picture because of this thread....probably won't change it again unless another thread like this comes along and makes me feel like changing it again.
